It seems the last about two pages should have gone in the conspiracy thread.
Absolutely, this thread should be more about COVID information and possibly those posts could be moved to the conspiracy thread?

50 posts have been moved to the conspiracy thread where they belong. My apologies for getting sucked in. I'll be more mindful.

A goodly number of posts from this thread that had more to do with 'conspiracy' than 'Corona virus' have been moved to that thread in 'The Earth in Our World' forum. All discussions regarding the conspiratorial aspects will kindly take place there, and this thread reserved for discussion of the Corona virus and its effects. I may have missed a few posts that could've been moved, but would still ask that these 2 separate discussion topics be kept separate. Thank you for your understanding and cooperation.

It’s the “island effect”. New Zealand has nearly eradicated the virus. Unfortunately I learn from a resident that they plan to take tourists again (for the economy). The virus will come right back, unless they insist on quarantine and testing.

Australia is doing better than Canada. It’s just a big, rather sparsely populated island.

Australia might be a sparsely populated island - but not so, Sydney -where I am.
Australia and New Zealand are considering taking tourists again - but only from each other and not for a few months yet.

Under lockdown, many can't travel to other states -can Canadians travel to different provinces under lockdown?

We're cautious because we're now heading into our winter. This month our states are considering independently going to level1 of opening up from lockdown.
We've been told to expect that there will be increasing numbers - but our health system has been prepared.

So there's an agreement to open travel between New Zealand and Australia but only when certain conditions are met. And that's because the Aussies are next door and also getting fairly good at containing covid. I doubt they'll admitting Americans or Canadians any time soon.
Thank God for Wondercafe2 - otherwise I wouldn't be visiting you folks!

On another matter, for some reason I can't get Wondercafe2 on Explorer -just Firefox?

I don't refer to what's going on here in general as lockdown.
Usually with a lockdown movement is extremely limited and often requires special permission, escorts, etc.
Those who need to isolate or quarantine would be in something like a lockdown situation, but not for most people.

For travel, some First Nations communities are restriction those who may come in. As far as I know there has been no restriction of travel for those not under quarantine/isolation criteria between BC- Sask. I heard Manitoba discussed restricting some travel over the boarder, but not sure if that ever happened. I know Quebec had something in place.

Anybody coming to Nova Scotia from other provinces or countries has to quarantine for two weeks- with the exception of truck drivers. Nova Scotia has just opened parks and trails again. They are thinking about starting elective surgeries again, but have no date for that yet.

Germany has been starting to loosen restrictions, but now has outbreaks in three meat plants. Apparently, meat plants in Germany depend heavily on foreign workers from eastern european countries who all live together in group homes. The outbreaks have increased the infection rate above what they set as limits for easing restrictions, so they have put it off in those parts of Germany. Meanwhile, people have been going to court over the restrictions. ( haven’t heard any decision on that yet).

Germany’s ICUs had taken in 10 patients from Italy, eight from France and several more from the Netherlands. Today a 69 year old Italian went home after 6 weeks in hospital, saying he was very grateful to the staff but is looking forward to the “ better coffee” at home. The staff gave him a T-shirt with all their signatures as a present.

Its obvious that living in close quarters increases the spread of Corona. I am just wondering why we are not hearing anything from the military? Did they sent everybody home?
