Kimmio I believe that people are still concerned about all the issues they were concerned about before. They are still writing about it, donating money, making plans. But we all have different issues we promote
but, as Maslow teaches us, we have a hierarchy of needs. And so currently a great deal of focus is on the need to be safe and not transmit disease
the other needs are not forgotten
i agree that this type of situation has the potential to result in despots grabbing power. Again, I am not sure that the world has the energy to focus on that
we get lots of deaths in a year. We seldom get many hundred in one city in one day. Not from one issue. These deaths are pushing other things to the back burner for now. Not forever
but those not directly working in this are still doing what they do. My niece who does social work with eating disorders is still doing that. My niece who does social work with homeless is still doing that. My nephew who is an orthopedic resident is now one of a few surgeons designated for that in his city. While others are sent over to icu. Cops are still patrolling the streets It they are all taking new precautions for their own safety
babies are still being born. Banks are still loaning money and trying to keep finances together. Truckers are still driving
this is a big issue. I get that week by week you change your mind on whether we should be doing what we are doing. we collectively, in our country and the globe , are trying to help people survive. So that hospitals can still deal with car accidents and with strokes and heart attacks and all the other things that take us to hospital
after this is all over, when we get back to work and restaurants reopen there will be lots of opportunity to say whether the government was too slow, whether they helped enough, whether they wasted time and resources, whether they were on the ball, whether they took away too many freedoms....... and they will either pay a price for that and lose the next election or they will be congratulated
