I think a lot of people get sick when they get a chance to stop for a break. Then their immune system decides to take a break, too. I've been fighting something for a couple of weeks with ColdFx. Getting afraid that when I stop taking it, I'll come down with a nasty head cold...and I haven't had time for my flu shot yet. Tried to get one at work a few weeks ago, but it was a busy week, there was a long line, etc...
My living room looks nice and cosy and festive with a few decorations, my little tree with white lights. My kids both came over yesterday, and besides helping with dinner and table-laying, etc., also each did a little housework job for me, so it's reasonably clean and tidy as well. There's a little mulled cider on the stove, my turkey stock is simmering, I made a turkey casserole for supper for myself, and I made both tarts and tourtiere filling this afternoon, so there are lingering good food odours with lots of overtones of cloves and allspice, cinnamon and sage. "Tonic" is playing jazz Christmas favourites, and all feels pretty well in my world.
*Here's a tray of mincemeat tarts and some nice chai tea to go with them, for those who enjoy indulging in English Christmas treats*
