Yes, it's one of those things I occasionally have difficulty with at work, as well. A real big navel orange, and a med sized pink grapefruit (which has a more orange-y skin than a white grapefruit) are similar size, and although a different shade of orange, a little indistinguishable through mesh or plastic. Also, white and yellow potatoes, unless they're next to each other.

My former/whatever/old guy popped in for a hug on his way home to his cabin this afternoon. His sister was driving him. His Dad had refused to even talk to him or acknowledge him today, on what was probably their last Father's Day together (his father is 90 and has stage 4 pancreatic cancer). He was really sad, and it really hurt me that his own Dad could be so cruel. Some people are just awful, and you have to just hope that, karmically, his initial post-death experience of the diversity of godde's love will be a little jarring to him, to put it as politely as I can. He's one of those very stiff judgmental Anglicans.

Good morning! Happy Monday! The sun has risen, the day is starting. Time for coffee and more.

The coffee is delicious thanks. It's nice that my taste buds have returned to near normal so I can enjoy it. I'll enjoy that while it lasts since they will go off again.

Thanks for the coffee! Any champagne to spray on the parade crowd in Toronto? My goodness ... it is unbelievable down there! They're making such very slow progress on the vehicles through the parade route (probably at least 90 minutes behind at this point!) and Nathan Philips Square is totally packed. I'm happily watching from home. :) Can't imagine what it must be like to be IN the parade!! Or to be doing crowd control ... thanks for all that!!

I just saw some overhead pictures on Instagram. What a madhouse. What a great celebration for the Raptors.

I'm glad I'm not there. :)

Those arial shots are pretty amazing to see!! Ooo - Tannenbaum just said something about Ford - got huge booos from the crowd!! And then Trudeau got some cheers. Wonder if Ford is going to speak?

The Savvy Sailor’s Rhubarb Relish Recipes | Food Network Canada

I tried this a couple of years ago; as I recall it took a bit longer to cook than specified. Everyone professed to like it; it was a feature of the Christmas baskets that year.

Bananas I throw in the freezer to make banana bread from.
I can’t picture rhubarb and onions combined being palatable... I was thinking of combining the rhubarb with the bananas to add some sweetness- my rhubarb seems to be quite tart,- some kind of loaf maybe?

Banana bread with chopped rhubarb in it sounds yummy. Would it help to cut the rhubarb into smaller pieces to blend into the sweet batter?

Sometimes I really wonder how we survived childhood. My parents are currently babysitting - my sister is out of town, my brother in law recently started a job that was 4 days on, staying overnight in another town, 3 days off. He just switched to something new though that's more of a typical M-F work week. So my parents are not 'on duty' 24/7 as planned (with the usual childcare still an option), but are with the kids all day unless they decide to drop them off with the person who usually cares for them.

My parents have been too busy all day to talk to me. Youngest still naps.
And not call just to have a chat, but I would like to see my nephews and parents, so planning that out.

And what, pray tell, is a "branston pickle"?

Apologies if this is something I should know already.

No, you wouldn't know it if you weren't English, or knew of U.K.-type food. It's a spicy dark pickle mixture. The English relationship with India is quite evident in their day to day cuisine.
