Here's a pot of coffee for those who want them. In honour of my new city, I'm leaving a tray of freshly baked nanaimo bars from a local bakery. Enjoy

I'm in the overflow section of the clinic getting my treatment today. It's weird out her. It's a private room.

And in honour of tomorrow's bake sale at the church, some good old Ontario butter tarts. Pastry recipe old Lutheran church cookbook, butter tart filling recipe from my friend Tam's grandmother, a farm wife from near the village of Cookstown.

And ya know, best laid plans and all that. Decided to split my plant sales this year into houseplants (in pretty pots), tomorrow, for Mother's Day. Perennials in early June, when there's more good stuff up, like hostas, and coneflower. So everyone was paying attention, and real well behaved, and got to the church after work tonight to discover 15 pots of iris, a couple of raspberry canes, a s**t-ton of rudbeckia.

I would have loved to have attended the Five Oaks gardening days! I had a special movie night Tuesday night, and my Board meeting Wednesday, and quite frankly, my travel is quite restricted these days with the departure of both my daughter and the old guy. Dog can't be boarded, so has to be possible for daughter to stay at my house.

That would have been so great Bette to have you with us. @Tabitha - pinga regaled us with some tales of her canoe trip with you :giggle:

For those not having coffee this evening (or 'corrected coffee' as my father-in-law used to call it when he added some grappa!) - I'm brewing a pot of 'nighty night' tea - we shall all sleep well tonight!!

I am off to a subdivision wide yard sale withjunior this early morning. Its a bery big subdivision often where a lot of military families live- of which a lot of them tend to get ready to move in spring. Plan to be there shortly after eight and will be walking/ driving for hours. Love this kind of yard sale, ( not that I need anything).

I notice that the room was quite lively last night. I've been dropping in every now and then but generally just sit quietly and looked out the window. Then I missed one night and everyone seems to drop in.
I'll just have a cup of coffee this morning. I usually have coffee for breakfast, and tea later in the day. Piece of fruit and cheese and whole-wheat toast will round out my breakfast.
Nancy, I can tell that your students meant a lot to you. It would be difficult to know how many lives you have influenced. I'm sorry to hear that the man died so young. Although I graduated from teacher's College, I never taught full-time – marriage, my own babies, and moving to a different province shortly after graduation got in the way. I did supply work for a few years, and looked after the Sunday school for many many years. I still have people coming up to me at funerals for social gatherings, and telling me 'You taught me in Sunday school.' Often I have to ask their names – a 30-year-old man looks a lot different than he did as a 12-year-old boy. But then I remember them and we share some memories. Often I will hear things like, 'you had me read Scripture in church one Sunday, and I had over my fear of speaking to a group.' 'You encouraged me to ask questions and to think for myself.'

Morning all. I've straightened the throw pillows and tidied up a tad. Also made the coffee and tea water. Help yourself.

Has the cafe moved? There is a different ambiance here in the Room.
Will help myself to a quick coffee. :coffee:

Yes, after all this time in dawned on me that this may be a better place for the coffee cart. More comfortable. People sit, chat, etc. rather than dashing in to be LAST. Much calmer atmosphere.

I am doing some catch up sewing today. I think I can slide my machine into a quiet corner here. In Jan. I joined a 52 blocks in 52 weeks challenge. I was about 6 blocks behind but now have 2 more almost done.

There's nothing like a good cup of coffee to start the day - and today it's even a sunny morning, although pretty cool here. I really appreciated @Pinga this week - she very generously brought her espresso machine to our gardening event at Five Oaks! It was whirring away making amazing coffee, lattes etc for each of us in the morning!

If you'd like to see some photos of our work - check the facebook pages Friends of Five Oaks and/or Gardeners at Five Oaks :-)

Good morning everyone. I'll just sit here in this comfy chair drinking my coffee. Three steroids from my treatment yesterday kept me awake late into the night.... or early into the morning. It will be a chill day. Tonight my sister is singing with her choir. We plan to attend.

Garage cleaning, finally. Needed it badly, too. Should cut the lawn as well but my Jerry can is empty and I am not there's enough in the tank so may leave it for tomorrow.

Enjoying some orange pekoe with lime as I rest a bit before starting the next phase.

Have you considered getting a battery-operated mower? It's quieter and you never have to worry about gas - just plugging it in to make sure it's charged.

Orange pekoe with lime? Like bits of dried lime peel? That might be nice. I've been barrelling through a box of masala chai that a friend brought me from India. I do this with favourite teas, like that oolong I got from my sister-in-law-type at Thanksgiving (and the rose tea that Tabitha gave me last year). I like it so much that I steam through the first 2/3rds, then, horrified that I will run out, I slow right down, and can rarely bear to quite finish it. So the tea stash is full of "2 or 3 cups/pots left" little bags and tins...
