What does the Bible mean that we are not to judge others?

What I don't understand is why someone who loves the bible so much seems perfectly fine with taking a scroll saw to it.

Well that’s fake respect. That’s just paper and ink. Would anybody be outraged at a bar of soap cut into the shape of a gun image? Or a tree fashioned into the shape of a gun?

No, it’s all about trying to vilify unsafe.

Newton's Law???

Sorry I wasn't supposed to bring science into a pious situation! God knows we could learn something ... NU?

I would have no problem using one as toilet paper, if it came to that. It’s just paper if you’re not reading it.

No it is just a medium ... in adept it goes further than that ... as layered myths! These are poorly understood because of the added British humour ... that dark shine!

unsafe is all about vilifying unsafe. She's unintentionally hilarious.

Not fond of guns in any shape or form.
And I don't believe we are vilifying unsafe....just the image she presented.
I actually appreciate unsafes presence here....doesnt mean I can't disagree or agree sometimes.

Thus that was shot down without canon!

Fake outrage about a book that gets no respect around here anyways.

Really. That's why I gave from 9:30 to 11:00 a.m. this morning, to a study of six verses of Acts, in three translations, in lectio divina style, in a group of a dozen that was led by one of our retired ministers, and attended by another.

Or why I'm searching (in that same book) for different images of God for a skit that we're putting on for an intergenerational workshop tonight. I'm playing God, which is rather funny. And given the condition of the two bibles I'm searching (one, has literally had the covers used off, the other had an interaction with a dog), it's not the respect for the actual book that's a problem. It's the violent image into which it was defaced. There are bible nazis around who think I shouldn't work from a dog-chewed bible, especially because it's my beloved copy of The Five Gospels, by the Jesus Seminar.

It's not simple is it. I struggle too, not vilifying anyone (how is it possible to know where someone's coming from?).
The image in isolation isn't the issue. IMO it's the temperature of the emotions that fired it. Scared a few of us. Likely the point.

unsafe says ---
and someone playing God who has no respect for his word and following what it says ---is Ok to portray and make a mockery of who God really is ----- that is not a disgrace to you and others here ????-----a person playing God who doesn't believe in what or who God really is ---is a disgrace in and by itself -----and mocking God --Period

Well I think that is the worst and it definitely isn't funny in my view -------it is very offensive to me personally -----there is only one image of God and His word describes it -----better portray his image as He is as I wouldn't want to be you when you bow before God in your end and have to give an account of your portrayal -----Just saying -----warning by God Himself ----- God will not be Mocked -----

No more waving pretend guns around here anymore unsafe! Makes people worry about ya.

@BetteTheRed did you see Alanis Morrisette in "Dogma". That white satin jacket.....

God will not be Mocked -----
Let us take 'God's' word for that then ... will not be mocked ... even if Bette was trying to 'mock' God which I am sure she is not ... is she more powerful than 'God' - which will not be mocked?

Here is an article for you all and you won't like this either ----cause it is truth ---- read and weep ---

What Good is the Word of God?
The Word of God is a Powerful Weapon
The Word of God is a Powerful Weapon to Fight against Satan

Ephesians 6:10-18 Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the power of his might. Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places. Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand. Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with truth, and having on the breastplate of righteousness; And your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace; Above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked. And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God: Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints;

In order to fight against Satan, we must take unto us "the whole armor of God." Our loins must be girt about with truth and Jesus is "the way, the truth, and the life." (John 14:6) Jesus is the truth, and Jesus is the Word of God. We must be girt about with the Word of God. Jeremiah 23:5-6 speaks of Jehovah God raising up "a righteous Branch" who will be called, " THE LORD OUR RIGHTEOUSNESS."

Jesus Christ is the Branch; He is our righteousness; He is the Word of God. Our breastplate must be that of the righteous Word of God. Our feet must be shod with the gospel of peace. The gospel is the Word of God. We need faith in God to shield us from the enemy. Romans 10:17 says that "faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God." Our defensive weapon is dependent upon the Word of God. We cannot put on the helmet of salvation without acceptingJesus Christ, the Word of God, as our Savior. "Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved" Acts 16:31. And, of course, the sword of the Spirit, is the Word of God.

So, what good is the Word of God?

The Word of God is our only weapon against Satan
. The Word of God protects our vital organs (spiritually speaking). It protects our hearts and our emotions, and protects us as we walk with God. The Word of God protects us from the onslaughts of Satan and protects our minds from his wicked thoughts. The Word of God is our offensive weapon to aggressively fight against spiritual wickedness. But, how do we fight against Satan if we don’t know the Word of God?

It’s impossible!

Jesus, Himself, was our example when He used "the whole armour of God," the holy Word of God, to fight against Satan when He said, "Get thee behind me, Satan: for it is written, Thou shalt worship the Lord thy God, and him only shalt thou serve." Luke 4:8

When we know the Word of God, we learn that we are "heirs of God, and joint-heirs with Christ" Romans 8:17, and that we should "put...on the Lord Jesus Christ, and make not provision for the flesh, to fulfil the lusts thereof." Romans 13:14. We also learn that we are supposed to present our "bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God," which is our reasonable service, and we should not be "conformed to this world: but be...transformed by the renewing" of our mind, that we "may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God." Romans 12:1.

But, how can we do that if we don’t know Jesus Christ? And how can we know Him if we don’t know the Word of God?

For those who live according to the flesh set their minds on the things of the flesh, but those who live according to the Spirit set their minds on the things of the Spirit ...

Isaiah 2:4: “And he will certainly render judgment among the nations and set matters straight respecting many peoples. And they will have to beat their swords into plowshares and their spears into pruning shears. Nation will not lift up sword against nation, neither will they learn war anymore.”

Ritafee ----your quote -----For those who live according to the flesh set their minds on the things of the flesh, but those who live according to the Spirit set their minds on the things of the Spirit ...

Without Christ in you -----you are living in the flesh -----they only way to live in the spirit is to receive Jesus as your Lord and Saviour -----and have the indwelling of the Holy Spirit -----

Resist not evil ... love your enemies ... @unsafe
“But I say to you who hear: Love your enemies, do good to those who hate you, bless those who curse you, and pray for those who spitefully use you. To him who strikes you on the one cheek, offer the other also. And from him who takes away your cloak, do not withhold your tunic either. Give to everyone who asks of you. And from him who takes away your goods do not ask them back. And just as you want men to do to you, you also do to them likewise.
But if you love those who love you, what credit is that to you? For even sinners love those who love them. And if you do good to those who do good to you, what credit is that to you? For even sinners do the same. And if you lend to those from whom you hope to receive back, what credit is that to you? For even sinners lend to sinners to receive as much back. But love your enemies, do good, and lend, hoping for nothing in return; and your reward will be great, and you will be sons of the Highest. For He is kind to the unthankful and evil. Therefore be merciful, just as your Father also is merciful.” (Luke 6:27-36)

And you say you don't judge. You know little about Bette and yet you presume to know her heart. That's sad. It also creates distance, not community.

Without Christ in you -----you are living in the flesh -----they only way to live in the spirit is to receive Jesus as your Lord as your Lord and Saviour -----and have the indwelling of the Holy Spirit -----

As you judge Rita.

I love hearing different perspectives on things of faith (and other areas of life) If this were my only exposure to "Christian love", I would be completely turned off. I see some well meaning gestures. Unfortunately, they appear angry and judgemental. Certainly there is a place for some of that. Not though, as a primary way of acting.

I'd really love to hear how your faith has made you a better person @unsafe. I find that more helpful than being slammed with verses or texts. I realize this conversation would be better with a cup of tea at the kitchen table. This is what we have.
