Not sure if he is in Banff or Canmore but Canmore has social services separate from hospital (the towns are very close to each other)

Doctor’s offices and their phone policies drive me nuts! The bf’s current doctor only answers between 9-12 and 1:30-4. I work during all of those times and they don’t have an answering machine, please tell me how I am supposed to get a hold of them? This particular clinic doesn’t call to remind of appointments, has that phone set up and charges for missed appointments. I had to sneak in a call to cancel an appointment while walking to a meeting a few weeks ago, not acceptable in my opinion.

I hope that fairly soon that can be online, I know the current system I use has that option, it's just not fully set up.

Do you mean Social Services ( as in : application for income assistance) or a place where he can get mental health help? I think he needs the latter. I don ‘t believe he can get income assistance without an address.

Oh dear, Mrs. A. We don't realize how vulnerable men can be, especially if they're a bit prone to thinking with their second brain. In retrospect, I am so blessed that my late husband landed up with a good woman.

Second brain can pass in an instant of this sort ... depending what comes first in the subject-object conflict in the third person coming forth ... Shadowy chippers?

Some of these bitz are said to fall on our shoulders ...

I am just about to start looking at online appointment booking for some of our offices so it will be interesting to see what's out there. My doctor doesn't have online booking (he's very old school and only uses the office computer for submitting billings as far as I can tell) but I can book my lab visits at LIfelabs and they have a very nice system. Booking with my doc is pretty the same as @Greywolf336 describes and it sometimes takes 3-4 calls to even get through at some peak times.

Lifelabs is great. Not only can you book your appointment in advance, you can look up most results afterwards.

It kind of makes you wonder why more offices/ services are not set up like this.

His old doctor’s office was set up for email reminders which was fantastic! We asked at this one and it doesn’t do that. I find it very frustrating. My sojourn into the world of medical appointments with the bf has not endeared me to office assistants.

Canadian Mental Health Association has many regional/local office locations - may do provide some treatment & support programmes. They are separate from hospital & clinics.

And they do advocacy work to help people sort themselves out with things like income assistance, etc. They were quite involved in trying to find a suitable placement for that young lad with Tourette's that I had living with me for a few months.

That’s a good idea, will try to look them up.
Only Edmonton and Calgary have the Mental Health Association. The only other option would be to go to Canmore Hospital. But , if the AB health system is anything like ours, unless he is trying to kill himself or is acutely manic, he would not find any help here. And he probably still thinks there is nothing wrong with him or his situation. Hes heen thinking this for many years.

Mrs. A., I will add him to my prayers, assuming you don't mind. Like I said, this is a lot less painful if there's someone of any sort to step up to the plate. Blair had a little succession of 'friends' after we split (one of them, memorably, I had to 'rescue', lol), but ended up with a lovely Italian lady, single parent with three boys. She was very kind to him.

Did you try the 211 service? Hopefully there's more they can connect him to.

One thing he is not- he has no problem with addiction. Eligibility at this place is “ moderate to severe mental illness”.
You and I would probably think if you get yourself into a situation like this- and seeing the situation as “ severe”. Unfortunately, mental health services usually don’t judge the situation you are in, but only the diagnosis. And being disorganized and trusting the wrong people is not a “ severe” illness, it only has severe outcome.
Still, thanks for finding this it might be something he could try.

Yesterday was a quilting course-always fun and challenging learning something new. Today is a sew day with my guild so I may actually get the quilt done. It is Stacey Day's sparkle and Pop. She is a BC gasl!

Looks like a great pattern Tabitha. I have a 'cathedral window' quilt made by my grandmother - you are reminding me about it - it needs some repair ... I might need to dig it out & see if my church quilting group might lend their expertise to resurrect it.

I was thinking beyond the situation with the "girlfriend" and just his living situation in general. To me that falls beyond mild anxiety or depression. I don't know what the criteria is for a moderate mental illness though.
