We have an artificial one up. I assume it's still up. I'm not home. It will come down in the new week as the house gets put back together.
Back to our new normal. Little M is on a train to Ottawa (well, to Toronto where he then meets the one to Ottawa) and we're back to an empty nest.
This church loves to socialize over snacks, plus well, I have found that it is good to have food that can fill a hungry belly. You never know who will be present, or who is hungry.
It's a good church.
I hear you. When my mom died at the age of 93, my daughter observed that it was very sad to lose her grandmother but not a tragedy . . .We do, and at 87, unlike some of my other recent losses, it can hardly be considered 'untimely', although it was sudden.
My condolences Bette.Opened my e-mail today to discover sad news. One of my favorite old teachers, in high school (he was the coach for the Math Competitions - Euclid and Descartes - that I was always in), then he taught at the College as a post-retirement gig. Gave me some cool art by a local artist/mutual friend of ours when he moved into easier housing a few years ago. His wife of 63 years will miss him so much. He had a great life, but it's never really long enough for a nice guy/old friend/mentor/teacher to so many.
Oh, we had a "Math Club". Met after school, used to practice previous year's exams, take them up, etc. Jack had a feeling for where you were weak, and would suggest problems to bolster your weak spots. I remember him really loving "a-ha" moments...
