I also gave in to temptation and opened mine tonight (my excuse is I'm traveling tomorrow) and found a wonderful selection of Brazilian goodies (cheese rolls and sweets and such) and a Starbucks card from GiancarloZ. Thanks, GiancarloZ! It all looks good! Merry Christmas, a blessed New Year to you and yours!

I decided to follow @Mrs.Anteater 's lead and open my secret Santa gift tonight. I discovered some coffee that smells lovely, an embroidered pencil case containing two chocolate bars. Thanks @DaisyJane ! I needed that tonight.

I thought the pencil case might be useful for knitting notions. And I remember you saying that in your current home "stuff" wasn't always a good idea. So I figured consumables.

Merry Christmas.

I too open my gift a bit early. A beautiful scarf (wrap, shawl), delicate fabric, gold thread. I worried last evening to our church service and receive compliments. Also enclosed was a book, and a small jar of homemade salve. All from Bette the Red. I haven't read the book yet I look forward to it when things calm down some after the Christmas rush. And the Sabbath will be handy to have on hand for bumps and scratches that I tend to get working in the kitchen. Any one of these would've been enough – even just good wishes – but thanks Bette the Red.

And I opened my gift this morning-right after my stocking.
A lovely rainbow unicorn is now perched on my tree-and the fragile legs survived the journey in a cloud of batting. The card-picked up on her summer journey is very appropriate. Many Thanks Seeler!

I hope that when all gifts are opened for Christmas and people have had a few days to rest and catch up, people will reveal the identity of their secret Santa and what gift they received.
Yes, I agree. Some will have a busy day today, others may not. So will wait till later today.

I just sat down and opened my gift from @Spirit Wind 7 . I am blown away by it.

First, the wrapping was lovely and smart. The present looked lovely under the tree.
When I opened it, Spiritwind7 had cleverly used ziplock bags, little christmas gift bags and tissue, meaning hardly any wastage, and the packaging is reusable.
The first parcel that I opened was a book by Anne McCaffrey - one that SW7 had read and enjoyed. Well, Anne McCaffrey is one of my favourite authors and I have not read this book. I am so looking forward to reading it.
There was a note explaining the gifts, and wishing blessings, and a lovely handmade card with good wishes inside.
Next, I opened a small parcel which was cards made by Spiritwind7 with images of hers. They are beautiful. Creative. Perfect.
A package of chocolate peppermint bark looks yummy.
The next series of packages will be useful when curled up on the couch reading my book. A package of cocoa, and two spoons dipped in chocolate. The smell of that package when I opened each of the spoons was to die for...yumm.
The note had said some assembly required, and sure enough, there is a wooden ornament to put together. I love ornaments tha have memory and story, so this is perfect for my tree.
Lastly, I opened a long narrow gift, which turned out to be two metal straws, one straight, one bent, and the cleaner for them.

I do not know how she did all this.

Thank-you @Spirit Wind 7

I guess I'll not wait since others have begun letting the SS out.

A wonderful parcel for South Korea ...
A Christmas note in three languages. and I think Miss Kitty is big there.

So a cup for hot and cold, with lid… in a lovely pink. A Miss Kitty mitt for dusting,
and tote just the right size.

Thank you Jae, and a very Merry Christmas to you and family. I realize you are
ahead of us and it may be over, or almost. But the wishes still stand firm.
And may the new year bring untold holy surprises.

God bless...
Spirit Wind 7

You are very welcome.
I am into the 'no plastic straws' as they have filled oceans to dangerous levels along with bottles.
As for authors, that was pure spirit at work, not me. I have read it several times. Enjoy!

Merry Christmas...

Practical question here. We have metal straws as well in our home. I would love to learn more about the cleaner for the straws.

The cleaners came with the set of straws. But I also got a set of them on Amazon. I found long bags too.

I was delighted to open a parcel from greywolf this morning. Inside was a card that said "open gifts first", so I did, then the card, which explained the origins of various treasures I found therein:

A beautiful set of quilted Christmas coasters made by a friend of greywolf's; they are beautiful and my sister, the occasional quilter, was quite fascinated by the design
A hand-knit headband in a soft grey cabled pattern beautifully knit by greywolf
A David's tea ornament containing fruit infused herbal tea which smells lovely
A little package of chocolates hand-made by a family-owned business

Twas a Red Letter Day for me today when the mail was picked up. Among the minor mountain of flyers, magazines of advertising and bills there was not one, but TWO small parcels with my name on them. One was, I deduced, a Secret Santa gift, as it was wrapped in Christmassy paper well fortified with strong, clear tape. The other was a yellow envelope with unrecognised writing. I rarely get mail nowadays and it was hard to decide which parcel to open first!

I took a deep breath and sliced open the envelope. Inside was a Christmas card explaining that the enclosed booklet was to amuse me until the arrival of my Secret Santa item. The booklet contains inspirational messages by a retired UC minister. Apparently I was to understand that the actual gift giver had been a bit slow posting the gift.

Next I tackled the colourfully wrapped parcel that I surmised would be a Secret Santa gift. Ah ha - the parcel held a beautifully knitted hat with a bobble on top.

Thank you Tabitha. Both items are much appreciated.

Tabitha knows how to keep people warm. The fleece lined, hand-knit mitts I received from her last year are my "go to" mitts on the coldest of dog-walking days...

This was Grandma opening hers early from Kaythecurler. Beautiful cards with pictures (I believe her photography grandma said) and an amazing placemat ( or could be hung?). Now all of them are hanging in my kids rooms. She's opened early because this was at the beginning when we weren't sure how her health would hang on Oh to go back to this dayIMG_1517.JPG

@Sarah, having lost a lot of family members including both parents, there's a lot of days I would go back to. It's good that crazyheart got to open her SS gift, esp. given that she had stepped up to run it for 2018.

@Sarah - what a delightful photo and memory. She looks like she was enjoying the early Christmas. The cards were from my 'collection' of mostly northern SK shots. I usually have some for sale in PA - at On The Avenue.

Cyber hugs to you and CH's entire family.
