There is a hot pot of tea on the coffee table, and some warm date pudding cake sitting on the sideboard.
Please help yourself.

Baked from my trusty Fannie Farmer cookbook from 1979.

Fire's on, snow is falling outside, Jeopardy is about to come on, but, will turn it off if you are up for some chat.

Mmmm ... thanks pinga!

This afternoon I went for a Reiki treatment - so interesting. I've known about & read about Reiki (an energy based treatment) but had never experienced it. Signed up at a wellness event one of my neighbours had recently. Loved the therapist, and the experience was amazing - I will go back again. Profoundly relaxing & calming for me. I think I shall sleep exceptionally well tonight.

That was my very first cookbook, Pinga. I had both Joy of Cooking and Fannie Farmer, but had more consistently good results with the latter. Because my poor mother really had no idea about cooking theory, never took anything like home ec (she was educated in a Catholic school during WW2; there were no available materials to 'practice' on), I pretty well taught myself, with the help of a beloved (unrelated) auntie, and these were her first two recommendations.

Did you learn about war cake ... a substitute for fruitcakes that create such out of nothing?

My grandfather was a great fan of the God of Nothing and the dissonance that could be created over it ... appearing as Eris in Gael ... crystal if you saw through Ur performance ...

I work one, and sometimes two, days a week at my brother-in-law's shoe store. I used to work only once in a blue moon but it has become a more regular thing of late. The other day, he and my sister commented: "You are a good listener." after I had worked with several people. I said..."Remember, I'm not really a retailer. My career path has been reference librarian, teacher and worship leader. Most of my jobs depended on me to be a good listener." Then I started to think about it: I think retailers need to be good listeners too. Maybe every job benefits from that skill!

Joy of Cooking is my other goto cookbook.
Love that book for cooking and Fannie farmer for baking.

My Mom's favourite has always been something called the Basic Cookbook. Course, a few of Mom's own recipes have been published.

I think you are so right about this Nancy!! Listening well, patiently, and to understand not just prep a response or rebuttal is a crucial and often missing life skill IMO.

Try and convince executioners of that ... Powerful CEO's!

Can a rich man enjoy Christmas? Only if his product is sold well ...

Corporate slogan for years was listen, think, solve. So many people go to solve first

Yup ... I was degraded and nicknamed "the observer" as they zipped by me ... the crumbs left were substantial ... but experience still denied ... I am still a "nothing"! Just ask some stoics that are a bit familiar with me ... the other cheek is often turned ... multi gamus? Still dark ...

Ugh our furnace is out for the 2nd time in a few months. I at least have an appointment for tomorrow - made with ATCO for a full inspection that I made the last time. I'm a bit concerned about if they are coming or not though, as I figured they would do a reminder call and they didn't. By the time we figured our furnace wasn't working they had closed. Hopefully they will be coming tomorrow morning as expected (and since I have planned gym time Chemguy said he could go into work late - so I'm hoping I can just avoid dealing with it this time!).

Heat used to be a 24 hour service concern ... service goes down the tube in effort to cut costs and raise profiteers?

Thus the spark is lost to the cool and weal thy ...

How awful, Chemgal! Hope it gets worked out satisfactorily. We heat with baseboard heaters (expensive, I know), and an airtight woodstove. If the power goes out, we can actually cook on the woodstove, and, of course, we could start burning paper (there go my sermons) and furniture if necessary. Our smallish house is not designed to have space for a furnace, so this is our best option, and so far it is working.

We're all connected, unified and made for one another. Let's love each other. We spring from the same soil and will each return to it.

Then is it critical to dispose of fruitcakes in purge a' Tories?

Thus moving on as canting Libra .. a Muse tange ... expect poon ...
