Hahahah I can vouch for the cottage being the second home for many things. Our family half jokes that items go home-cottage-dump (or rags if it’s textile). That being said, we put new mattresses in the cottage that we rent out!

Damn. The smoke is back at 10+ again. That is as severe as this rating scale goes. Yesterday it was moderate all day-and I actually went out to do errands.

So sitting here I catch wiffs of the smoke-and I am inside with the a/c on. I'll either move the aircleaner to this floor or retreat upstairs shortly.

Sorry to hear that Tabitha. We are having a gorgeous August day here - yesterday the temperature dropped & the humidity cleared - it was night for windows open & blanket on the bed for a good sleep. Hoping some relief comes soon to BC.

We had a busy day yesterday. Rented a cargo van, came home & picked up a swivel rocker & a load of plants from my garden; drove north about two hours to friends (partly thru a rainstorm!) to visit & pick up a dining table & four chairs, a rug, a mirror. & left the plants for them for their garden. Then drove to the east end of Toronto to drop it off to son & gf. Enjoyed supper with them on the new table - then drove back home. A 12 hour day - but lots of good visits & helpfulness. And the sun was shining by the afternoon too which was nice.

Here too. It is really dark and dreary here right now. They are calling for rain here for later today so that should clear things a bit.

It was 1 here at one point! Should finally be nice out for a few days (although cool). Unfortunately I went upstairs to hang dry some stuff. The effort of walking upstairs with laundry & the residual smoke has left me short of breath.

I am sitting outside at five oaks after a busy evening

1. There are 5 groups on site: 25 women from a good works group, 55 from a Toronto downtown community group, 20 from a tai chi group , 30 from a united Church and 2 renting a house.

I have been running here there and everywhere.

Currently relaxing g, listening to crickets. Birds. Loving the cool night air. Smiling at peoples snores wafting through open window.

I am envious Pinga. I am unable to be out because of the smoke. The 10+ was airquality, our temperature is fine. Also on the positive side we have a very low pollen count.

Tonight is better here. Two nights ago it was really bad...smelled like we were in a campground, including, inside. It is mildly irritating. I don’t like the haze - when it looks like dusk all day long, and looks like it should be cooler out. Actually, today it cooled down.

Not necessarily. Just takes the right atmospheric conditions and sufficient ash in the upper atmosphere. After all, we have several documented incidents in historic times where ash from a volcano in one remote part of the world travelled around the Earth caused global cooling. This is the same thing on a much smaller scale.
