I'm glad people are enjoying my soup - espeecially since I made it without a recipe out of 'whatever was in the fridge'. I lovee using up leftovers rather than throwing them out.

I am very much of this habit. However, makes it very difficult when you serve something somewhere and someone wants the recipe.

Sad. I hope that there aren't any more. Thinking of those who are fighting got their lives - and who may have to adjust to a whole different life.

I imagined everyone who survived that crash will need to adjust to a different life. Their lives have been total altered by this crash. Including the truck driver.

and the issue of whether the bus braked-and if driver hadn't put on the brakes would the truck have missed?
Wearing a jersey tomorrow in honour of the injured and deceased

Not good info about the truck driver.

What info? Sounds like he is young and fairly new to the job. They suspended the licence of the company. I understand that is standard practice in these situations. The company had a clean record before then.

Can you even imagine what it must feel like to have killed 16 people and injured 13 others?

Would be nice if some of the 7 millions would help him build a life again, too. General public would probably not like that.

I do not suspect he is young.
It will be interesting to see driving history.
May create a thread to let my racism show

They released some information about him. He is 30 years old. He was working for the company for about six months. He was trained for 3 months and was fresh.

What do you suspect about him?

What if he was merely unfamiliar with that intersection and had the sun in his eyes? What if this was merely a horrific chain of events?

Edit: Apparently he only worked for a month. Truck involved in Humboldt Broncos crash belongs to Calgary company | CBC News

Either way, it's too soon to judge without all the facts.

I am content to wait for the RCMP report and, if any, charges. If it had been a clear cut case, eg. he blew 0.1, we likely would have heard something so I am thinking it's more nuanced than that.

I suspect he did not grow up being driven in vehicles in Canada and learning to drive in Canada.

I suspect there will be info about the school he went to for driving

I see the truck business itself is new.

We talk about truckers from Quebec and there is a reason.

The information has come about about how long the driver was licensed

As I said, this one is worthy of another thread.

He will still need some compassion. His life has also been forever altered. I doubt he is a monster.

Edit: this man's life has also been profoundly altered. If he is like anyone I've met, he probably won't be able to drive for awhile because of his trauma reaction. Judging him does not being those lives back unfortunately.

I have heard many people say "I could have been that truck driver. I once blew through a stop sign. It was pure luck that I didn't cause a dreadful accident". One of those people is ME.

At this time I am content to wait for the RCMP report on what actually happened and for the response from the Dept. of Highways. Speculation and blaming don't seem to be the best way to move forward.

I have been recalling something my dad said to me long ago - "If you can come up with a quick, easy solution you haven't grasped the magnitude of the problem".
