TRUMP - Some people think......... How do you feel?

Electing Trump as president was like giving ones' life savings to a gambling addict. Again...I don't think he's the worst person in the world. But he is the most powerful gambler in the world.

He is the funniest president ever - when you can suspend the reality part. I like him for that - grateful for the gut laughs that make tears stream down my face - then I feel kinda better. I thought Bush was funny walking into doors and giving shout outs to the woman luvin' OBGYNs, and fool me once, mission accomplished pose - and ducking flying shoes at a press conference... But Trump is funnier.

He's backtracked on the joint US Russia cyber security working group. Bad idea, he says now. Can't happen. He said he talked about it, not that it could happen! Duh! Even though one of his cabinet, on TV, called it a step forward.

What in the blazes was he thinking?! The timing couldn't be funnier, either. "We're in the middle of being investigated for colluding with Russia on election interference using hackers...Putin says he didn't do it so it's all good...Hey! Wouldn't it be awesome to announce a deal with Russia to work together on solving cyber threats like election hacking?!" (Where's the face palm smiley?) Brilliant. But...turns out he didn't mean it. Carry on.

Trump and Hitler both exploited racism. Both happily kill people of 'inferior races'. Both exude 'neat ideas', but exhibit no sense of the social meaning of politics. Both act in accord with the wishes of big business. Neither Hitler nor Trump had - has - any sense of social values. Both see themselves as inspiring figures.
Both are Christians.

jae - is your Christianity perfect and complete?

Is Trump's? Do you see anything Christian in Trump? Is racism Christian? And, if you read the whole New Testament, Jesus talks about more than saving faith. Why this obsession with personal salvation as though it were the whole message? Some very, very evil people have had saving faith. George Bush springs to mind - and his father who oversaw the murder of 200,000 Maya. What about the leaders of the world's oil industries who seem quite happy to poison the earth? And I can think of at least one who owns his own Christian church, and who has no problem hiring a Christian preacher each week.
And whatever you may think of Hitler, there were plenty of Naziis who carried out his mass murders of Jews and Romanys and others. And there were plenty of chaplains with the Nazi armies - the majority of them Protestants.
There are Protestant chaplains of the most Hallelujah type serving with American armies that have killed millions of innocent people.
But not to worry. If they are Protestants with saving faith, they'll get places on the front lawn in heaven.

I've been made whole and sanctified in Christ.

If he is a Christian, he's also whole and sanctified.

Yes Graeme, I do.

It is not.

Personal salvation is part of Creation's redemption - the missio Dei.

Listening to Hitlers speech within a previous post, it seems very easy to take the Christian message and apply the subtlest differences and create a politicized message to the masses that seems familiar for some reason. I could hear Christs message bastardized. (same with Trump)

Again Muslims and Mexicans arent races
Again the "muslim ban" was called that by the media
The act itself was specific enough. A temporary ban on citizens from certain countries immigrating 2 the USA, during the time certain US orgs to get their acts together and figure out a coordinated plan including the countries in question
Europe is dying right now...their plan is working against them.
I am still hoping to hear some responsibility taken by the "left" in the USA for promoting racism and hatred.
Missed ya here Graeme
LA DI DAH!!!

I write the above not because I like or love Trump but rather because I think plonking down the racism card is used to quiet discussion. It is a too simplistic out. And a form of virtue signalling.

In somewhat related news, I just listened to a really cool podcast. An interview with a recent Syrian immigrant to USA, Mohamad Chaghlil* (one of the many things i noticed is why no hate of USA which made me think of possibility of US hatred as meme held by sombunall...and comments aboot his countryfolk's attitude to Assad, of love despite the horror because they thot he was being manipulated until enuf wss enuf...it is stuff like this thst xpands my experience...)

You can listen 2 it here
*Graeme, you might want to now expand more an figure out how to talk with people from the areas of the world u r talking aboot with your reporting on the news articles u come across. The world is at your fingers.

The U.S. gave the jihadists their initial training in terrorism. Ever since, it has been supplying them with money, weapons and military support. And when you preach hatred of a group as Trump has done, that is what racism is called.
The American people buy that because they are profoundly racist. And they neatly forget that they are the ones who have created these millions of refugees. It's a problem for Europe because Europe is profoundly racist - and it treats them in horrible fashion.
I know Islam isn't a race. Neither is Judaism. Neither is being an African with dark skin. Neither is Asian.
But all have been discriminated against on racist grounds And Canada has been as bad as anybody.
The U.S. created over 80 million refugees of whom and very large number have been starved to death, drowned, sold into slavery.... I'm not impressed by the notion that Trump will do something about this, someday, maybe....
He, like his predecessors, is fighting people he has no legal right to fight. And the hell with the refugees. let them die.
The U.S. has attacked over 75 countries since 1945. In that time, no country has attacked the U.S. And for all the fear of terrorists, one is more likely to be killed by American police than by terrorists.

(The Invasion of Afghanistan was decided on long before 9/11, Trump knows that.) We are watching government guided by pure greed and a stunning amorality. It's all being done to please American billionaires - though the rest have to pay the taxes for these wars because billionaires like Trump don't pay taxes.

This is vile beyond measure. And, no. It's not limited to Trump Just about every president since 1945 has launched into such violence to satisfy greed made respectable by bigotry.
And I still fail to see the Christian connection.

Trump and Hitler's personalities and mental organization seem entirely different.

Trump is a self absorbed gambler and a grifter and a showman. It would' be so bad if he wasn't prez. His showmanship and ability to captivate attention is bar none. I don't think he's seething with evil - there are things I like about him - but he has tantrums which make him impulsive.
