Here's looking towards actual Universal Health Care in USA thanks to 45, if he can survive the current slow motion assasination attempt against him, that is

Things That Are Positive
The economy

Trade deals

China relations

Russia (our frenemy) is working with the U.S. on Syria, North Korea

China is putting pressure on North Korea

Jobs

Healthcare progress (more to do)

Supreme Court nominee confirmed

Tax reform maybe

Optimism for an Israeli-Palestinian “deal”

Safe Zones coming along for Syrian refugees

Illegal immigration down over 70% because of Trump’s persuasion alone.

Business confidence high.

Things that are Negative
Unproven allegations of Russian collusion with Trump campaign.

Trump claims he invented the phrase “prime the pump.”

Trump tweeted a warning that Comey better be careful what he says because he might have been taped in the White House. But such recordings haven’t been confirmed. Or denied.

Critics say Trump is crazy.

Trump claimed his campaign had been “wiretapped” by Obama, but it might have been only incidental surveillance. Or not. We’ll probably never know.

Critics say Trump is a loose cannon.

Critics say “words matter” and Trump is careless with words.

Trump’s approval rating is abysmal.

There is “chaos” in the White House

Trump doesn’t study topics in detail.

Trump might fire people on his staff for various reasons.

There is in-fighting with Trump’s staff.

Trump got two scoops of ice cream when others got one.

Trump threatened to end press briefings but probably didn’t mean it.

Trump is influenced by whoever gives him the latest article that is sometimes fake news.

Trump calls the mainstream media fake news.

Trump has criticized the courts, judges, and anyone else you are not supposed to criticize as a president.

Health care didn’t get passed on the first try. And still needs work.

Trump will be impeached or jailed any day now for whatever.

Trump keeps relying on trusted family advisors such as Jared Kushner and Ivanka.

Trump fired Comey as both sides wanted, but his timing raised suspicions, and he talked about it wrong in an interview. Also didn’t coordinate with his communication staff.

Trump says things that do not pass the fact-checking.

Trump doesn’t realize that his business skills don’t translate into government. (This was the same reason people said he couldn’t win the election.)

Things that Might Be Good or Bad (Depending on your Point of View)

Trump is prioritizing jobs over climate risks in the near term.

Trump is reducing government regulations.

Trump is moving responsibility for several topics to states, per the Constitution."

How so, Graeme? Come on. You can't blanket dismiss people without coming to some sort of grips with their points.

The economy is wyrd. It looks pretty good to rich folk, like Scott Adams. I have a problem with the source, to some extent. Inanna?

But have the argument, don't just blanket dismiss it...

And as I have stated many times before, DO NOT ever use Donald Trump's "business skills" in an argument until you come to grips with the FACT that if any person on earth had inherited the wealth that Donald Trump did, invested it with even a modicum of responsibility, they would be MUCH richer than Donald Trump is today. Let's keep this as factual as possible, please. He is a passe, wannabe reality show 'star' with some serious persuasive skills that Scott Adam likes, yes. His replacement would be much worse, unfortunately. American people, whom I like as individuals, have behaved collectively idiotically, for not the first time.

And that's quite alright and fair and schmart
Since I've been following Scott Adams for a bit now I am aware of his biases and he has written aboot them...which also includes his acknowledgement that he could and can be wrong...he has acknowledged that he is wealthy...I find he's a political atheist (lovely term, that)...and he has created his own perspectacles/BS/worldview through which to look at the world and see what happens (eg. His Master Persuader hypothesis, his Moist Robot hypothesis*...)...his blog (and twitter) he uses also to test these ideas and he asks for feedback from his readers...he's doing a funny Dilbert bit right now on the alleged Comey Russia bit...

I put his works here as another potential perspectacle...and do hope to see what people here agree or disagree with perhaps why and maybe something even new?

Oh and did you know that you are in the 1%? Globally that is :3 You're Rich. Its just that some people can fine tune and fine tune it till they get to the point of "ah Ha! These rich people are so different from me that they are a blasphemy" imho. I find it fascinating to see these beliefs form and influence others...mass behaviour, cognitive biases...ideas becoming physical action...cats n dogs living together...

* a hypothesis that he seems to use a lot is that while there is Truth, a real world, it is sooooo complicated etc that all we can ever know aboot it is what he calls our movies in our heads...our hypotheses...so he makes these hypotheses and sees how well they predict what happens in the world...thus his success before most media that 45 would become President...

It is just that the economy is complex and real people like it simple as hard as that is to handle without the friability factor ... useful in shaping the formless ...

Hi,

I posted the video below in another thread to begin another conversation. The speaker seems to be in basic agreement with the position maintained here for some time by our friend Graham. It certainly encourages me to think that voices all around the world are beginning to sound themes not welcome by most but wholly necessary for all to take seriously. Every day we are getting closer to unimaginable horror.

George

For a start, the U.S. and Russia are NOT cooperating on Syria. In fact, we are close to a major war over it.
The economy is not good. I depend on monstrous and highly corrupt defence spending - which is almost all borrowed money - so much borrowed money that it can never be repaid.
The economy is also bad because national wealth is INCREASINGLY going to the super-rich. The result in the U.S. is dramatically rising poverty, and serious erosion of education. (and health services..
Any improvement in relations with China is window dressing. U.S. foreign policy is based on close confinement of China.
In the same way, it's policy on Russia is the same. That's why the U.S. carried out a revolution to overthrow the elected government of Ukraine.
We are better off that the starving people of Sudan, for example? Yes. It's not hard to be better of than people who are starving to death.
The middle east is a quagmire thanks to U.S. interference. Similarly, ISIS (which was created by the U.S.) has spread over large parts of Africa and Asia.
Trump has serious persuasive skills? So did Hitler.
Trump has done very little to increase jobs.
Business confidence is high? I'll just bet it is. Business pays virtually no taxes, and has a huge and profitable market in the huge money pot that is called defense spending.
His supreme court pick replaces the only moderate and independent judge on the court with another far right wing extremist.
Illegal immigration is down because of Trump's persuasion? The illegal immigrants are people from lands the U.S. has devastated and made unlivable. But the U.S. now takes no responsibility for them. My hero!
The US (beginning with Bush) is probably the most hated country in the world. Even some of the Europeans are looking for a way out of U.S. ties.
The U.S. is helping to fight a war in Yemen in which the main weapon is mass starvation.
There's been health care progress? What on earth is that guy talking about. Trump is trying to destroy the very little progress the U.S. has ever made.
Yes, China is helping us with North Korea. But that has nothing to do with Trump. It is in China's interest to avoid a war in Korea - and China was never a great
Incidentally, Russia and the U.S. are NOT cooperating in Syria. We are within inches of war with Russia over Syria.
Almost that whole list is pure bunk.

Oh. Trump's trade deals are positive? Tell that to Canadian softwood lumber industry. Tell it to the Europeans who are very disturbed at the changes he's making.
Tax reform? He's cutting taxes for billionaires who don't pay tax anyway.
There is now optimism for a Palestine/Israel deal? Nonsense. If anything, Trump is making the situation worse.

But yet if you are optimistic about republican efforts to cause demise of demos ... all is well!

At least until someone discovers the lo' end of society is the portion that carries out the chit the powers do not dirty their hands with ... and someone does it without thought ...

The economy and jobs are results from Obama. Some of the factories Trump was championing have actually cut jobs since.

Trump and Russia are not cooperating in Syria.

Illegal Immigration may be down but so is tourism. And people who were granted sanctuary under Obama are either being deported or living in fear of being deported. Some who came there as young children have never known their birth countries. (I have to ask why they can't be citizens by now, though. I don't understand that.)

Trade deals with the Saudis? Not good. What other grand trade deals has he made?

China relations are not great. Not as bad as it seemed like they might be, but...Read something about him going after China's banks today.

Trump is reducing government regulations only on things that keep America safer and healthier - like environmental ones. And to make corporations richer. Nothing that helps his base.

Many of his voters were for ACA, but against Obamacare. They didn't realize it was the same. Many people, especially people with preexisting conditions - such as people with disabilities - are going to lose health insurance.

Business confidence is not high in Silicon Valley. Some of his advisory panel is fed up with him. And Amazon is priming for a fight, I read today.

And all of the negative traits far outweigh anything positive. His constant lying, his family empire, and his petty vindictiveness. His habit of stream of consciousness tweeting of foreign policy is not boding well for him. His domestic approval rating is way down - and Russia and Israel are the only two places where he scores higher with the people than Obama did. The constant lying alone is actually enough to outweigh anything positive.

And in terms of regulations - his elections commission wants the names, voter IDs, party affiliations and addresses of all voters to look into voter fraud - that is at most involving a few hundred people a year (including, allegedly, Steve Bannon). Yet, experts fear this is just the beginning of a huge voter suppression effort, esp. for minorities who tend to lean Dem.

He's running the U.S. - not so much like Hitler - Hitler was more politically systematic and didn't have a family empire - more like a mob boss.
