Great summery day here today! Blue skies, breeze, warm temps. Ah June I do love you!! We participated in our annual 'street sale' this morning - we didn't have too much stuff out, but got rid of most of what was there, which I'm happy about.

Seeler - amazing! You'll be done that puzzle in no time! Should we have pool on your finishing date? LOL No - it would be visible online & you might skew the result

While I was cheated out of both my high school graduation and prom, I did really enjoy both of my university graduation ceremonies. I genuinely liked watching everyone walk across the stage, and even hearing the speeches. Looking forward to my seminary graduation next spring.

First wedding in the gazebo. Woke up this morning to much rattling. They were setting up chairs for

wedding. - about 150. The rehearsal was last night with a marriage commissioner. Watched the guests

come in dressed in formal to shorts. Then The sun was so hot, I came in. hot and windy. But saw a few

babes who had nothing on their heads. not good or are bonnets out of vogue.?

I love those big sun bonnets! My kids had many sunhats!!

Sounds like the gazebo is just near your new home crazyheart - should provide some good entertainment!

my husband was often the teacher who had the daunting job of announcing the names as student crossed the stage.

Given the size of Little M's graduating class, the teachers divided it into three sections with a different teacher doing each section. The woman announcing awards had to do the whole thing solo, though. But she had long breaks between students at times.

I don't think my nephew has ever had a bonnet. He does have different hats though. Caps are actually hard to get for babies, they sell out so quickly!

For my high school grad, we had rules in order to get through it in a timely matter. Nothing said about what we would be doing, it would have increased the time too much with so many of us.

This is hat I got for my great-nephew's first birthday :-) Nice big brim; chin strap if needed, bungee to adjust the crown size - and a fun print!

Little M had hats but never a traditional bonnet. I seem to recall him wearing a baseball style cap even as a baby.

Which is why many do not go

Thus the in great full ... reside hidden as sub-conscience? Hypo critical implicit! That within thing ... a tight essence ... in an emotional surrounding thye regress ...

Something worth looking into quietly .. like talking to your abstract friend ... purely imagined?

May be ... may benot and thus incarnate ... the genre in the myth ...

My neighbour came over for an hour yesterday. We probably did more talking than puzzle, but between the two of us (and some I did before she arrived) we found 62 pieces. I keep the pieces turned up in boxes (8 lines x 8 lines) now. It's easy to take a quick count at the end of the day. Down to 376 pieces - and not too much scheduled to keep me away for the next week.

Which is why many do not go

From what Little M said, there weren't many no-shows for this, though he also conceded that for most of them, the prom (Victoria Day weekend) was the more important event.

He is already working on his schedule for fall semester. I don't think I even got a syllabus until July or August but with the Internet, things move on a much different timetable today. He can also get reviews of courses and profs, something we really did not have for first year (but for later years, we could word of mouth from older students who had taken them already).

Interesting. Neither of my sons attended. Nor did most of their friends.
Most at my school did. It was considered to be mandatory for those who were allowed to cross the stage. The rest were expected to be at school. We didn't have 'prom' it was grad. Everything all in one day, ceremony, grad dinner & dance and then after party.

Prom is "unofficial" at this school (maybe in this board) so it had to be separate because the students do it all themselves. No teacher involvement that I heard of, though they did have security (likely off-duty cops) checking for smuggled in booze and to deal with incidents.

Our after-grad parties were like that. Student council gave out the tickets (we needed multiple parties/venues, due to our school's size) but not as school council. Teachers were involved with grad though, they were involved both with grad committee and the class historians. Both major boards - Public and Catholic were involved with preparing the venue, every year the decor theme was a surprise to all the students, even those on the various related committees.

After parties here are entirely up to the individual students and "cliques". Little M headed out to the local conservation area with a small group of friends, but there were large groups from multiple schools up in Grand Bend (resort town on Lake Huron about 45 minutes from where I am now). Apparently, the group from Little M's school got busted big time (40 underage students with open liquor as I heard it from the lady across the street, whose daughter was in the Bend but not with that group) but, as I said, he was elsewhere and I actually first heard about it from my boss whose son was there with a group from his school.

Is there no celebration with parents then? What about all the formal clothes?

There were also camping parties after, but those were way less connected to the school, those were individual students. I'm not a camper so didn't go to any. Some parents arranged for 'safe grad' camping parties but our school didn't, probably partially due to just how many of us there were.

After grads were at clubs. Back then, those underage were allowed in certain areas. We had wristbands to show those above 18. Not sure how that's arranged now, as laws have changed. I did have a friend who was 17 get kicked out as she was in a part (and with a drink) where she shouldn't have been.

What made said camping parties "safe?"
