Are we worthy? Of what?

I do not like the word worthy. It still sounds like we have to do something, that we are born indebted. Nobody chose to be born. I prefer the word entitled. YES. We are entitled to unconditional love because you are a human and you are beautiful and the only thing that made you ugly is the broken world we were born into.

I am not a fan of the mantra that we owe God anything and t adds to the ridiculousness of what religion is. He chose to die on the cross, not me and he made this universe, not me. Imagine if I brought out the trash and trip and spill all the trash on the sidewalk. Now I clean it up and expect that my neighbors give me thanks. "Didn't you create this mess?" We don't have the power to fix it all. But, you know who does, at least if we go by the religious scriptures that claim Him to be all powerful... Stop blaming yourself and just be the best you can be. Be your own god, god dammit.
:)
Does that method work well for the lonely and afraid? The marginalized? Those who have lost hope?

--Chansen I believed you were kind, of well educated" , yet you don't understand Metaphors .
What is metaphor? The blood? The death? The resurrection? You revel in the blood imagery. You fixate on blood and death. You tell me it's a metaphor. Does that mean Jesus' blood had no special properties or powers?

Airclean, correct me if I'm wrong, but you do believe that Jesus Christ was a blood sacrifice on the cross to save you from your sins. Without his blood sacrifice, you would not be allowed into heaven? Is this a correct summary?

Chansen --Look to Egypt when Israel was in slavery. They were freed because Killing a Lamb and put the blood over your door step, then you must eat all the Lamb, well the Angle of death( passes over) your house .You have no faith for our GOD so I don't think you understand. But many here should. Those in Israel had a choice obey GOD or loss there first born.

Over-promising and under-delivering is hardly a formula for raising people up. If the answer is to make big claims, then someone else will always promise more. Donald Trump, for example.

Yes BettyTheRed, it is true. The Blood is the life of the flesh . But in this case it was the perfect blood , coming down from the first perfect being ,who was dying for us. But in 3- days GOD The Father showed us . He had excepted ,His Gift", He raised Him" again and us with Him "That is those who would come through Him". GOD has given us His all and so " . All Glory Belongs To GOD".

Are you under the impression that you're helping your side by suggesting God would (at one point in time) claim the first born children of those who didn't obey God?

Am I alone in considering that monstrous on the part of this God you insist exists? Because this is the sort of thing that makes me glad you have no evidence.

--Know that the Jews are getting really for there Christ . As they to now believe He won't be long. I talk to because how close I feel we are to His return. I know you have the right to chose. Make that choice wisely , with understanding in all things. I wish you and your family well. airclean33

Depends on what you're looking for. Someone once said "Faith does not spring from the miracle, but the miracle comes from faith".

If only we knew how true it is that we have the "right" to inherit the world and to be the God-Universe we are a part of. It has nothing to do with religion, it has only to do with creating "right relationship". It is simply the art of living.

Minutes after I posted the above the following feed came across my Facebook page:

Indeed. How does the song go? Worthy is the Human?

Nope. Worthy is the Lamb. If anything, Jesus sacrifice was to prove to humans he's worth paying attention to. I mean... if you believe in that stuff.

One could simply say - "if you believe in that stuff" - that however you interpret the sacrifice (and there have always from the beginning been many "theologies of the cross" - substitutionary atonement being just one of them) the fact of the sacrifice means that God saw humanity as worthy of the sacrifice.

I personally do believe that stuff, that the sacrifice was worth paying attention to. The "ransom theory", however, where God pays Satan off with the life of Jesus is a theology that seems ridiculous. It was well known before that time that the blood of animal sacrifices was paid to God as forgiveness of our sins. The Church simply took that concept one step further with a human sacrifice. Maybe it was to accentuate the importance of Christ, I don't know, but it followed the idea of self renunciation from our eastern religions.
