That's up to Met and West Hill, chansen. Typically pulpit swaps are discussed by the worship committees of the two (or more) congregations.Great! So let's try to set one up with Metropolitan United.
We had the previous minister from that congregation at our church.I would just assume they wouldn't get someone off any list and handle it from within. Not as much fun to imagine that way, but more likely.
Though really, that's actually a good idea for how to handle Rev. Vosper - do some pulpit swaps. Have some ministers from other UCCan churches preach to West Hill, while she preaches at the corresponding church. There's exactly how this could have been handled. Start with Metropolitan United.
How much common ground would each minister-congregation pairing find? How would discussions go after the sermon? That would have been fascinating.
How can those be converted who are just going to resist the Spirit? Anyway, I don't know which, if any, of the West Folk need to be converted. I'm not their judge.
You went a step too far. I'd bet at least half of the UCCan clergy do not believe that non-believers go to hell, or that there is a hell at all. If that's the litmus test, at least 50% would fail right there. Hell is your scare tactic, not something I've commonly heard clergy from the UCCan use. If ever.Even though the UCC is having an identity crisis, I believe that any Christian Church should at minimum be able to admit that the primary function of a church is to lead people into relationship with God through Jesus Christ. Gretta is not qualified to do that.
She knows that, but she says, "So what! Same for 50% of my colleagues. Fire us all, which I don't think you will, or let us take this outfit in another direction."
"Follow me, and I'll prove there is no such thing as hell."
The truth is not in her.

She may well feel like that. And how would that stand up to UCCan's general statement of faith?I know exactly how it will feel like for Gretta Vosper if she is forced out of the UCCan. She will feel like a child who has been rejected by her birth family.

Pr. Jae: but why chip away at someone's saving faith. Also, what if there's someone there that day in the congregation who doesn't have faith. They need to hear the Word of God.
Inannawhimsey: I do think that the whole term atheist is a blasphemy in your BS. Just making an observation.
You bring up a hypothetical of someones faith being chipped at n the hypothetical someone who doesnt have faith
I think you are using these explanations to try to self explain your fear
Arent you really meaning yourself here?
Inanna said:Its a copout to say that you are not thier judge?
What's a fact ... considering the eternal nature of word that goes on and on? That's God according to the input of John ... a common aria ... as an un orthodox AUM'r! Chi smells some suite ...
Yet mortal man hates words piled in a hole as a' pos tole IQ ... buried intellect? It's tuff unseen ... like nomad IQ race ... the alternate rush!
