Another swipe has been taken at Trump's Christian credentials and a very good one, at that. Pastor and noted Christian author Max Lucado wrote a piece in the Washington Post on decency and how he expects decency from candidates calling themselves Christian and fails to see it in Trump (and, notably, does commend Obama for it while conceding he did not vote for the man).

I wouldn't let Trump date my daughter either (but I don't have daughter and given the current tone of the GOP I doubt Trump would be asking to date my son:eek::confused::D).

Thus Donning the ole thing as a blonde thought? If the blonde wouldn't know would their be a queer potential for not knowing what was dun ...

It's Super Tuesday afternoon, and I just watched an interview with a major pollster, who discussed a most ironic pattern. Bernie Sanders does much better than Hillary against the field of Republican candidates, but of course he's unlikely to get the Democrat nomination. All the Republican candidates beat Hillary head-to-head, except the Donald--yet he'll likely be the Republican nominee. I wonder whether and at what point electability becomes a factor.

Jesse Ventura: I’ll Run for President if Bernie Sanders Loses

The former governor of Minnesota likes Trump and Sanders, but says he will get in the race by June if Hillary wins the Democratic nomination.
MINNEAPOLIS — Jesse Ventura told The Daily Beast he will run for president if Bernie Sanders does not win the Democratic nomination.

In a Monday interview with The Associated Press, Ventura described the conditions under which he would be most likely to run for president, “If it’s Hillary Clinton and Marco Rubio, the chances are better. I don’t want the revolution to die if Bernie gets beat.

Guess who has the Deep One Vote?

“I wish I was still an atheist. Believing I was born into a harsh, uncaring cosmos – in which my existence was a random roll of the dice and I was destined to die and rot and then be gone forever – was infinitely more comforting than the truth. Because the truth is that my God is coming back. When he arrives I’ll be waiting for him with a shotgun. And I’m keeping the last shell for myself.”

What stuns me about The Laundry, is how something so f***ing bleak can also be so f***ing funny. Stross really treads a fine line with that series and treads it very very well.

I like how one of the designers of the Delta Green rpg (hey, they actually have their own RPG now, as opposed to a version of Call of Cthulhu rpg set in modern times) said aboot the Lovecraft Universe -- that it isn't aboot winning (human beings can't) or losing, it is aboot human choice?

Against all odds (and the odds are stacked against humanity in that universe), choosing is the whole deal

Weird fiction is fun in general for me -- it shares some of the sensibilities of First Contact fiction, but without the reliance on the laws of reality working out as they should

Had one of those nights when I couldn't sleep. In the wee hours I figured out what will happen if Trump wins. Civil way escalating to world war.

First it will start with peaceful protests as Trump starts to implement some of the things he has promised against American citizens. Trump will send in the riot police. People will be killed. Peaceful protest will quickly change to rioting in return. Some of the crazies (ie KKK) supporting Trump will get involved. More blood shed. Trump will be in danger of losing suppport of the more moderates in his party. He will turn on the crazies.
Meanwhile, when he starts to build the Wall and charge it to Mexico, Mexico will cut diplomatic ties with Trump; so will many European countries.
But he won't be completely cut off - he'll have Putin as an allie. And maybe the middle-east if he stops bombing them and instead curries their favour.

And where will Canada be? In grave danger, of course.
But with many Democrates, as well as all those Trump considers less than real Americans (Muslims, Blacks) seeking refuge in Canada, we'll have a real boost in population, and perhaps much of the world on oour side. Can we remain neutral in those circumstances?

Who will the world war be against if you think that Russia and perhaps the middle east will be onside with him?

In any event, none of that will happen, if only because Trump actually can't do most of what he says he's going to do without Congress onside - and even many of the Republicans in Congress aren't going to be onside with him. Also, frankly, I suspect much of Trump's outrageous stuff is an act. I have my suspicions that this campaign was mostly about narcissism. He may be as surprised as anyone that he's in the position he's in, because a lot of this was likely just about feeding his ego and getting himself some publicity. As a number of commentators noted, after Super Tuesday he's begun to moderate his comments a little bit, almost as if he's had a "holy s**t, I might actually win this damn thing," epiphany.

My fear is not world war, or even civil war per se, but I do think that a Trump presidency (or even a Trump defeat in November if he wins the nomination) could lead to a lot of violence in the US. Those on the more "loony" wing who have supported his outrageous positions against Mexicans and Muslims and women, etc., are going to be pretty steamed if Trump wins and either doesn't or can't do what he promised, or if Trump loses.

I agree with revsdd. The things he says he will do he mainly cant. Its bluster and hot air.

What he can affect though is the level of tolerance and non tolerance in the street.

So could be a spike in citizen violence? With 20,000 some odd deaths due to fire arms via violence and suicide it might be hard to tell. It is not as if the USA is a non violent country.

If elected the world leaders will suck it up and get along. There isnt a choice really.

And lately the news showing people laughing and hating him from outside the USA; Canada, Britain, France..... I suspect if Americans see those clips which they might not, but if they do , i suspect it only adds to his allure. "Those ..... Cant tell me what to do and who to vote for. Donald stands up for us......"

I never said that thinking at 5;00 am after a restless night would be clear thinking. Still, I remember peaceful protests in Syria being fired on by government forces, riots breaking out, more bloodshed, other countries getting involved against a president who would attack his own people, and then the rise of ISIS. (not likely to happen here?)
