Looks like DOGE is failing as Judge rules it looks like against the dismantling of USAID?

I first hoid aboot it from Scott Adams -- then I checked to see what the heckies he mentioned

I've been wondering what can account for Trump's amazing teflon ness -- he has escaped the worst that his opponents can throw at him

I wonder what his astrological chart is? Probably something very amazing and charmed...

Something has been helped him...

Gorsh I hope he isn't an Englightened Master

Yes, Matt and Trey are so intuitively perceptive about human folly, a lot of it seems almost prophetic. Not just this. It’s like “the gods are laughing at us so we might as well laugh along.” They put it out there in the cultural zeitgeist - nothing supernatural, but more substantial than a trend - it stuck in a lot people’s imaginations for a long time. Including some tv addicted orange ignoramuses who probably took it literally as a possibility to explore. I wouldn’t be surprised.

We live in TV world now - given who is POTUS and all the disinformation and absurdity that’s been forced into our realities. And it’s not fun in actuality, for those who still care and are impacted. South Park helps us to laugh at ourselves at least - a reprieve from worrying. The world now feels like something between TV-land and doomscrolling. Bizarre. Scary. But not boring.
I mean, the irony of “Blame Canada” is amusing. It’s “WOW”

I think Scott Adams is a slithery, slimy, duplicitous twit. He has been far more right wing partisan than just putting out cartoons that take satirical shots at everyone pretty equally like South Park does. His vlog is manipulative, intentionally - and he teaches others how to be manipulative - regardless of what helpful links he might include from time to time. Not one of the good guys. I haven’t looked him up in awhile to see if he’s changed tact, but I would never trust what he puts out in his own words. Even given that broken clocks are right twice a day, he’s best avoided.

I waiting (not looking forward) for this to happen :(

I recall one time in the early 2000s I had a bizarre experience when I had to fill oot a form while crossing the border. With things like job, income education, all sorts of bizarre stuff

Really not looking forward to a global version of the little bits of Hellscape that are exemplified in UK, China and Russia. No privacy. Less expansiveness of expression and ideas. Everything under constant watch by machines of loving grace :(

I still hold those librarians at the Fairhaven, WA, library who kept on being visited by the FBI who would ask them for the checkoot lists of patrons and they kept on politely turning them away while being *very careful* to stay within the law via creative means...

That took character

It would have been so much easier to just hand the info over

"What bad could it do?"

First they came for the Communists...

Some thoughts and considerations can't be avoided as stupidity, fear and anger keep recycling in an emotional swirl ... kind of djinn? Wisp in space ...

I read recently that these 3 items in the cesspool are part of the avarice function that is little understood ... small matter?

Never trust anything in this world as no one knows enough to be a virtue ... thus folly of what descends on us ... guano? WR Grace made a bundle from digging it up ... it is like a stinking thought as pseudo nymphs were created ... like but not the same!

Nothing is true just a rendition of what's in the abstract ... and thus temporal ... it'll pas ... thus it goes 't (cross vast space)! Tech term ...

Australia will not be using counter tariffs to the tariffs that have been imposed on them by the United States because putting tariffs on the US will harm Australians.
PM Albenese says Tariffs harm the country enforcing them and he doesn't want Australians to be harmed further.
Sooooo what's right.....counter tariffs or not?

From Robert Reich:

"Friends,

One of the purposes of “flooding the zone,” as the Trump regime is trying to do — shocking and awing us with its blitzkrieg of bonkers orders — is to make it almost impossible to sort out what we should be incredibly freaked out about from what we should merely freak out about.

I’m incredibly freaked out about the regime grabbing people from their homes who are legally in the United States, with permanent status — not just visas permitting them to work or study here but green cards — and then whisking them away to prison because they’ve engaged in constitutionally protected speech that the regime doesn’t like.

You think I’m exaggerating? This is exactly what happened to Mahmoud Khalil on Saturday night. Khalil, who graduated from Columbia’s School of International and Public Affairs in December, has a green card. His wife, who is eight months pregnant, is an American citizen.

Immigration agents appeared at his apartment building and told him he was being detained. He now appears to be in a detention facility in Louisiana.

Khalil did nothing illegal. He has not been charged with a crime. He expressed his political point of view — peacefully, non-violently, non-threateningly. That’s supposed to be permitted — dare I say even encouraged? — in a democracy.

So why is he in jail?

Khalil was one of the leaders of last year’s peaceful pro-Palestinian protests at Columbia University.

In a post on Truth Social, Trump conceded Khalil was snatched up and sent off because of his politics. “This is the first arrest of many to come,” wrote Trump. “We know there are more students at Columbia and other Universities across the Country who have engaged in pro-terrorist, anti-Semitic, anti-American activity, and the Trump Administration will not tolerate it.”

Where, may I ask, are the “First Amendment absolutists” such as Trump First Buddy Elon Trump when it comes to protecting speech that the Trump regime finds objectionable?

Where are all the Republicans who for years have accused liberals of “cancelling” their views?

Where are the conservatives who have claimed for even longer they only want to conserve traditional American values?

Nearly 13 million people in the United States hold green cards. Tens of thousands more are here temporarily as foreign students and professors. Apparently all are now in danger of being arrested if they speak their minds.

If this assault on civil liberties stands, Trump could just as well arrest and expel permanent residents who voice support for, say, transgender people or DEI or “woke” or Ukraine, or anything else the regime finds “anti-American” and offensive.

If it stands, what’s to stop the Trump regime from arresting American citizens who support any cause the regime doesn’t like — such as, say, replacing Republicans in Congress in 2026 and putting a Democrat in the White House in 2028?

Does anyone remember Senator Joe McCarthy’s communist witch hunts? I do. They weren’t pretty. Careers were ruined; reputations, destroyed. They remain a stain on American democracy.

American democracy. That’s what’s at stake. The Trump regime is out to trash it. The regime doesn’t believe in the First or any other amendments. It doesn’t believe in the Constitution.

Let’s commit to ending Republican control of Congress in 2026 and sending this regime packing in 2028 — if there’s still a democracy that enables us to do so."

You actually imagine that Canadians get to vote in American congressional elections?
The net rsesult of your plea is that members of this site will vote 1-0 for Republicans.

Both ways lead to suffering
(the important bit for me is that people get to choose what they do, so GoodOnya Australia)

Basedon my research so far, though, it won't lead to a Great Depression, so that is good

And as for Mumps tarriffs, what exactly is happening with then day to day? Hasn't that changed again and again? Bloody tease. I do hope he isn't AB Testing...:(
