What are you doing to worry less?

Keeping large worries in check is less of an issue for me than small ones.

I am worried right now, of course, about the economy and the public health crisis. But those worries seem reasonable to me. I find it helpful to just check the news updates a couple of times each day.

Like some others have said, keeping up a daily routine is good. We are not finding our days terribly changed because we are already used to a retirement lifestyle. I feel the effects of the restrictions, however, and especially miss my church life and seeing family members. I walk outside daily, weather permitting. Sadly the best nearby walking locations are closed right now . . . the Rouge Park and the Zoo.

What am I not doing? NOT setting goals or striving to be busy all the time. I am puttering around, reading and doing a bit of knitting. My WC2 bible study thread takes up some of my time every day.

Because I have already addressed it since retirement, I don't have a backlog of organizing & decluttering to do. There are some boxes of photos that might get scanned one day. Or not.

Spring cleaning wouldn't hurt but I am not especially motivated to get at it when no one is coming to visit us. One of these days, maybe!

I feel sorry for the extroverts that need to be doing, doing doing until near Dunn ... for they can't rest until collapsing or imploding unconsciously and they drop on their feet! JOB a holics? Some are addicted to doing things that keep them away from their abstract side ... perhaps because of fear of what's unseen? There are books on that subject ... some labelled hidden gospel ... just to create a mysterious myth to scare something out of the proletariat and drive them to work when they should have a GAP ah? Like a crack in liberty only conspiracies as dead ringers ... no onus on the higher powers ah boies?

Barbara is keeping busy by baking cookies. They are in the shape of Easter eggs and decorated with coloured icing. As she bakes I am working on a letter of support and encouragement for our faith community members and our family members. We will put a few cookies and the letter in a small bag that has handles and can be hung on a doorknob. Saturday we will drive from home to home as if we were the Easter bunny. It will also be a bit like a game we played in our youth, knock out ginger. Hang the bag, ring the doorbell, and rush away.

We are among the fortunate, being retired and secure financially and socially. One of our joy sources is our new pup, Sadie. A ball of energy who takes us out for walks and has us constantly laughing at her antics.

Barbara and I find that that the expression of creative energy robs worry of its negative impact.

This is my baking from today ... "not cross buns" - skipped the glaze too, so they don't look fabulous, but ooooo they are tasty if I do say so myself! I made a small loaf from some of the dough - my mate thought it would make good toast and I think he's right!

Something reminded me of a teacher I had. Did a quick search, was easy to find him. Shot him a short fb message. My husband think's I'm weird haha.

My spouse has always believed I'm weird ... so it must be to process from arms length! From that remote point we can observe our very self ... virtually?

Wow. Those cookies are gorgeous. Such talent

i would love to bake but in the month I have been home I have shopped twice. Neither time did my store have flour or toilet paper or cleaning supplies. I will Need to scour stores next week if they don’t get any in. Cant get it on line either

my seeds are up too. It is so fun to watch them sprout

re tomatoes. I find you have to be careful not to overwater. It now that I am retired it is easier to check them daily and adjust

when you plant them, I put a small bit of ebsom salts in the hole. Not sure why, one of my gardener uncles told me too so I do. Lol

i used to move them from the little starter packs but realized that the garden shops sell them in the same little starter pots so now I don’t bother. Unless they get really leggy and warm weather is a long way off

Thanks for the tomato tips @Lastpointe . I recall Epson salts being good for rose bushes too ... something about magnesium I think ... most years I forget to apply it tho!

Ooo - look what the postman just dropped off! Should keep us busy for a while & we'll pass it on to our fellow puzzlers when done. I read an article recently about doing puzzles - of various sorts - that when we successfully put in a piece, fill in an answer etc the brain gets a little rush of dopamine - good for the nervous system in general and stimulating to the 'feel good' aspects especially! This puzzle will be a challenge for sure - no straight edge pieces to start with!

Boggle; the butterfly effect when things started by small incidents? My grandfather said love was nothing and look at the chaos that generated ... when utilized in excess by SOL less folks without even the slightest doubt (Tom). Resembles Domes Dais man you scripts! Accept the sacred combining syllable "-ite"! May appear as IT, or even Iđ ... dt's? Comes after the addictions ... even to life, O'live it respectfully to the entire entity!

Too many isolationists of national powers ... gest Hoo's ...

I find puzzles a funny thing. on one hand I enjoy the challenge. on the other I don’t have a great spot to do them so I find it hard on eyes and back. And I can find them frustrating. So a mixed blessing for me. Though I enjoy a group puzzle where everyone adds a bit

Getting back to the posted topic - 'What are doing to worry less?' I am alternating 'constructive business' and 'mindful breathing'. I have cleaned out some long ignored areas and found some forgotten items. The Space themed version of Snakes and Ladders will be passed on to the youngest grand. Lots of baking, of course, and some more time demanding meals. The breathing and meditation is something I have done intermittently for many years. I have no excuses now like Too Busy or No Time!
