Turning the page, this is the present situation whether we like it or not.

Donald Trump has been elected president of the United States - Again.

It was a historic political comeback for a candidate rejected just four years ago.

But this time, Trump took almost every coveted state.

The entire blue wall turned red.

And, unlike 2016, this was not just an electoral college victory.

Trump also won the popular vote.

To top it off, Republicans took control of the Senate.

Simply put, it was a red landslide.

It is extremely rare in our history for a president to come back after losing a reelection bid.

And yet it happened with the most flawed candidate American politics has ever seen.

I am just here trying to figure out - How did he do it?
Well pick any creep and follow their tactics. eg. Rasputin; Hitler; Idi Amin, and on and on.

The weaponization of Christian hate.

They hate being told to be empathetic of others. They hate the thought of their kids learning about history from the perspective of others. They hate the idea of women who they think are whores having the right to terminate a pregnancy. They hate pretty much the entire LGBTQ+ rainbow. They hate the thought of subsidizing the poor. They hate the thought of sharing in the cost of the health care for another human being. They are deeply distrustful of all science and medicine they don't understand or which contradicts their interpretation of the bible.

And they are sick of being told they are bad people for all of the above. They are tired of hiding. They have found a leader who lets them proudly display their ignorance, their bias and their hatred. There is nothing he can do wrong. They have no standards which has has to meet. There is no level to which he can sink that would cause them to reconsider. He legitimizes them. He tells them they are good people. They've been waiting a long time to hear that.

There was an interesting quote from Billy Graham on FB and the "corruption in the hard right" ... stoned righteous? May resemble a tough addiction to power and lost humility ... the Lost One being a portion of a psycho quiescence ... 5 points of a pyramid us? Ah seen it, twas dah light ... a flaming whatchamacallit ... unnamed ... like Whoopee's counter point!

It's an upside down world. It's not just the press. There have been others who have shown videos of his actions, his words, etc, and still he gets a pass. He has been indicted, convicted, etc, yet people still seem to think that's okay. It's unbelievable.

Thankfully, I'm not seeing or hearing anyone here suggesting it's fake news. The two possibilities are still on ignore. They're going to stay that way for me. I have zero tolerance for anyone who gives the president elect a pass or who thinks his actions are good in any way.
One of those people she means is me. Despite the fact that repeatedly in this thread I have shared my view that both Harris and Trump were unelectable

Some Christians just want to be left alone and don't vote at all as a general rule.

The Amish chose a side after the Kamala Harris Admin raided Amos Miller Organic Milk Farm.

2020: 45-50K Amish registered to vote

2024: 200K+ Amish registered to vote.

Deregulation is why they voted for Trump.

My own perspective is that the American voter voted this election not based on who the candidates were but on what they thought the candidates could do for them. Harris has arguably way better qualifications as a leader than does Trump. But, I feel, the Democrats' campaigning based on who Trump is was a big mistake.

The American voter voted based on what they believed the candidates would do for them. They'd just seen what the Biden/Harris administration had done over the past 3.5 years, and most were unhappy with that. And when asked what she would have done differently than Biden, Harris answered that there was not a thing that comes to mind.

I feel the attitude of the voter this time round was, like, "Okay, Trump's a Hitler. Okay, Trump's a fascist, a dictator. Really, we don't care. If he's going to give us jobs, and lower the cost of things, and put bread on our tables, we don't care." Dangerous stuff

What's amazing is they think he has any answers to actually lower the cost of living. He has no policy. Eight years later and he has a "concept" of a health care plan. Union members voted for him but he is anti-union and against overtime pay. His ideas on taxation aren't lowering the taxes for those who know how much a loaf of bread costs.

He has simply emboldened the a**holes and the religious nutcases, the venn diagram of which has considerable overlap.

Has anyone heard him articulate how he will help the working classes during this campaign? Has anyone heard him articulate any credible policy beyond mass deportations and banning/or not, abortions? I mean some people supported him merely because he was "pro-life". Nothing I've seen suggests he is pro any life but his own.

He tapped into the discontent many feel about the cost of living increases and gave them a scapegoat (migrants).

Exactly. And we've already seen "your body, my choice" from some of those a**holes.

In spite of that 50.3% (74,685,609) of American votes + 312 electoral votes made Trump President Elect (again).
Yes, in spite of my view. Nevertheless, my view remains my view. I encouraged a few American friends of mine to reject their ballot

Harris may not have been the best choice. Trump is quite possibly the worst human being who has ever been nominated. That's not an exaggeration.

It really is mind-blowing that such a man could be president.

I've been thinking about this. I've seen what some pundits have been saying. While speculating about reasons may be helpful as a way to cope, I'm not sure whether that accomplishes anything at this point.

I've been wondering about the role voting only down ballot and not voting for president may have played in this. Have you or anyone else come across anything about this?

The Democrats did not have the buy-in or trust of the American people with or without Harris.

Free Press senior editor Peter Savodnik said:
“They didn’t lose because they didn’t spend enough money. They didn’t lose because they failed to trot out enough celebrity influencers. They lost because they were consumed by their own self-flattery, their own sense of self-importance.”
Donald Trump said:

“They don’t hate me, they hate you, the American people and I'm just standing in their way"

The left and the Democrats went on Twitter and went on cable news and literally said:

“It’s not an indictment of Trump, it’s an indictment of the American people.”

When you call somebody Hitler or a fascist who has won the popular vote, that is not a smear on him.

That is a smear on the American people who voted for him. I find that most intolerable.

They called him that before he won the popular vote. After he won the popular vote, and the election, Biden invited him to dinner. Who asks Hitler to come for supper?

They are voting based on who that vote will hurt. They will even vote against their own self-interests to both hurt the people they don't understand or like, and not help those who they don't want to help. It's not even selfish - it's a step below selfishness where you voters will cut off their own noses to spite their own faces. It is an indictment of American education, where they don't just not understand those around them, but actively avoid learning about those around them, in their own towns, states, country, and elsewhere on this planet.

They are voting based on hatred, and for that, they deserve to be, what? Praised?

The way out of this is to show that kindness outnumbers hatred. That truth matters more than bulls**t. Trump shows that's not always true. May the next leaders of the Democratic party find ways to generate enthusiasm and motivate people to vote. May the next Republican nominee dial it back.

And may there be free and fair elections in two and four years time. Because that's not obvious right now.

You invite him over to show him how it's done. You try to remind him of the value of decency. You try everything you can to keep him from becoming more like Hitler, from becoming more fascist. From hurting more people.

It's a shot. I don't think it will work, but you have to try.

But their allegation, chansen, wasn't that he was somewhat like Hitler, or almost a facist, someone who could be won to the light side. But, hey, I like your thinking. The more decent he becomes the better it'll be for everyone

What are your options at this point? He's a criminal but he managed to get all criminal trials postponed long enough to take power again. Now they will be squashed. He was running to stay out of jail and he succeeded.

Most of them are Republicans and will vote a straight R ticket no matter what. But enough hate the same people Trump hates to put him over the top.
