Besides, then the troll gets a whole thread dedicated to them, if they were trolling for attention - maybe that's better than the 'lolz' they were aiming for. And if they weren't trolling - then they're being trolled, and that's not right either.

Here again your labelling someone. Hence, the person will always be in your mind a troll. Better to categorize behavior.

I have been ignoring this thread up until now suspecting that no good would come of it. That is still my general impression after a scan of it. Really, if attention-grabbing is part of the motivation for trolls, discussing them in their own thread is just feeding that motivation, is it not? Also, it is rather disturbingly focussed on singling out a particular person when I would say he is not the only one with a history of trolling us. It's a rather sad thread to have and if we had the ability to ignore threads, I likely would.
