The Bible says otherwise.....often God chose the most unlikely people. Those who are well informed realize that these are the days of anti-Christ - the one who pretends to come in the name Jesus while serving power, privilege and pride. Many will be deceived. Those who are not deceived will be persecuted. Stay tuned!

I would be interested to hear more from you on this. Can you give me an example of a person with disreputable character chosen to represent the purpose of God in history. The Bible says otherwise.....often God chose the most unlikely people.

My basic understanding is that God chose persons from among the people to denounce persons employing power to benefit a minority at the expense of the majority. I am thinking of the prophets and Jesus.
Can you give me an example of a person with disreputable character chosen to represent the purpose of God in history.
Thanks for these examples of characters in the Bible stories who were less than perfect.
And I doubt most churches would have considered Paul, when he was named Saul, to represent them...Well, there'd be David. Having Uriah killed so that you can steal his wife.
Jonah, at best, displayed a high degree of reluctance to listen to Godde.
And then there's Judas, who was certainly critical to the "Jesus plot".
What directives of Jesus are you referring to.....the Beatitudes? Love one another? What if to some ... the Bible is being used as a 'screen play' ... and it is not God that is putting people in power but people in power putting people in power ... to 'fool' the elect into sitting back and waiting for Jesus to come and save them instead of acting on the directives of Jesus 'to pick up the cross' so to speak?
...I have worked much harder, been in prison more frequently, been flogged more severely, and been exposed to death again and again. Five times I received from the Jews the forty lashes minus one. Three times I was beaten with rods, once I was stoned, three times I was shipwrecked, I spent a night and a day in the open sea, I have been constantly on the move. I have been in danger from rivers, in danger from bandits, in danger from my own countrymen, in danger from Gentiles; in danger in the city, in danger in the country, in danger at sea; and in danger from false brothers.
