I heard an interview yesterday with David Frum - well known conservative and opponent of Donald Trump. Some interesting things he noted:
1) 20 years ago when various groups of people were asked how important it was for a president to show high standards of moral behaviour, evangelical Christians cared the most about this issue. Today, surveys show that evangelical Christians are among those who care the least about this issue. That is very troubling.
2) As people get younger surveys show that they are progressively more attracted to so-called "strong man leadership" and that they care less and less whether they live in a democracy. That is also very troubling.
3) Trump and his supporters define accurate reporting about him as "fake news" and the rule of law as "the deep state," meaning more and more people are led to simply ignore and dismiss the very things (media and law) that should be holding him accountable for his actions.
Frum dismissed those who compare Trump to someone like Hitler. As he said, moving immediately to the single most extreme example of the failure of democracy makes those who opose Trump seem ridiculous. Instead, he compared him to gum disease - something we may not even realize we have but that releases toxins into our system that can eventually kill us.
It was a very interesting interview.
Gangs, Mobs and moral outrage without upstanding ET hicks ... ****burp!
Mortal life is so ridiculous ... I could laugh until overcome ... thus cover-dupe! An all encompassing Φ as love that opens with a Ψ ... psi/sigh?
Then there are some that say icons, signs and other indications mean nothing ... thus nothing rules ... a great void to get sucked into the vacuous myth ... as if something is missing from the noble brute myth!
Still power is something that attracts brutes even if it is self destructive ... beneath that ... tromped and denied psyche?
Now about that bottom line again ... wile .. about Eris in stories of Hermes? Imp*losen bump?
