TRUMP - Some people think......... How do you feel?

I heard an interview yesterday with David Frum - well known conservative and opponent of Donald Trump. Some interesting things he noted:

1) 20 years ago when various groups of people were asked how important it was for a president to show high standards of moral behaviour, evangelical Christians cared the most about this issue. Today, surveys show that evangelical Christians are among those who care the least about this issue. That is very troubling.

2) As people get younger surveys show that they are progressively more attracted to so-called "strong man leadership" and that they care less and less whether they live in a democracy. That is also very troubling.

3) Trump and his supporters define accurate reporting about him as "fake news" and the rule of law as "the deep state," meaning more and more people are led to simply ignore and dismiss the very things (media and law) that should be holding him accountable for his actions.

Frum dismissed those who compare Trump to someone like Hitler. As he said, moving immediately to the single most extreme example of the failure of democracy makes those who opose Trump seem ridiculous. Instead, he compared him to gum disease - something we may not even realize we have but that releases toxins into our system that can eventually kill us.
It was a very interesting interview.

Gangs, Mobs and moral outrage without upstanding ET hicks ... ****burp!

Mortal life is so ridiculous ... I could laugh until overcome ... thus cover-dupe! An all encompassing Φ as love that opens with a Ψ ... psi/sigh?

Then there are some that say icons, signs and other indications mean nothing ... thus nothing rules ... a great void to get sucked into the vacuous myth ... as if something is missing from the noble brute myth!

Still power is something that attracts brutes even if it is self destructive ... beneath that ... tromped and denied psyche?

Now about that bottom line again ... wile .. about Eris in stories of Hermes? Imp*losen bump?

Speaking about what?

Trump collusion? Or what really happened?

None of us know what really happened, except those who were directly involved in it. That's what people are hoping the Mueller investigation will get to the bottom of.

As for National Post Radio and Arlene Bynon, they were discussing the Mueller investigation, Mueller's request to interview Trump, the standard that would have to be met for an obstruction of justice indictment - which was basically that since Trump had the undeniable authority to fire Comey, was his firing of Comey for corrupt reasons (ie, simply to impede the Russia investigation in order to protect either himself or others)? Valid questions. We'll wait for the answers.

The best, I think, is Israel's Haaretz - though its coverage is largely limited to the Middle East. The Guardian is not as good as it was - but it may still be the best of the major ones. CBC is the best of North America's broadcast media - though it is under constant pressure from interfering governments. And Al Jazeera is better than it gets credit for.

New York Times has some good people - but it's under great pressure to conform. That may explain why it never covered the slaughter of 200,000 Maya in Guatemala. (it mentioned it briefly just once - and then left it.) I wouldn't touch the Washington Post with the fag end of a barge pole.

The Globe is Canada's best paper - but it usually toes the line. Most other Canadian papers are dreadful.

News media are expensive operations. You have to be very wealthy to own one. And that means that since the origins of the modern daily about 140 years ago, almost all of them have been propaganda sheets to please the wealthy. Going after the social media is absurd. Some of it is bad. But some is quite good - and its the only counter we have to the propaganda that fills the commercial media.

A lot has happened already @chansen. The arrests of Flynn, and Manafort, and guilty plea of Lewandowski. It's not as dramatic as seeing the Trump family being lead off into paddy wagons wearing orange jumpsuits...that would be "something happening", because Trump is acclimatizing us to daily drama. If anything happens it won't be so dramatic. Probably a lot of plea bargaining.

Here's one from CBC...

David Frum was once 'Trump-curious' but now says his presidency is like America's gum disease

Then there are underground papers and free press ... the devil in person!

Does the goadish devil have trooth-isms ?

So, basically none of you have heard anything.
I don't really get what you're looking for. Heard what? Are you asking us if we have insider knowledge? Of course we don't. We know what you know. There's an investigation going on. There have been a handful of indictments and guilty pleas already. There may be more; there may not be more. Mueller wants to interview Trump. Otherwise, we await the results of the Mueller investigation. What else are we supposed to have heard?

You made mention above that "your news channels" are not reporting on the Russia investigation and "inditements" (sic). I told you that I generally listen to National Post Radio and Arlene Bynon and that both had been talking in one way or another about the Russia investigation. What I've "heard" about the Russia investigation in recent days comes largely from them. I also cited a CBC radio interview from "The Current" in which David Frum spoke about his concerns about Donald Trump.

I think it's irresponsible to start jumping up and down about it. The guilty pleas from Flynn and Papadopoulos show there is something afoot. The news is encouraging, but there haven't been any new charges that we know about, but we clearly don't know what Mueller knows. And people don't plead guilty for no reason. There is a lot of smoke surrounding the Trump family, including Jared Kushner. You're looking for people who celebrate prematurely or with hatred because that will fuel your narrative. Ask Kimmio, she'll give you what you want.

Sorry...Papadopolous, not Lewandowski.

'Scuse me?

Mike Flynn has already pleaded guilty to lying about his communications with Russians during the campaign. This plea happened after this "interview", which could also be Van Jones just wanting to get rid of this guy. Who lies to the FBI over nothing?

Let's see what transpires.

Jeff Sessions was interviewed by Mueller the other day. Steve Bannon is expected to be interviewed by Mueller soon. Did he already interview Kushner? Trump, himself, if interviewed, it will be near the end of the investigation, I think.

Mueller's the real deal. His job is not to entertain the public with a dog and pony show...as much as it feels like a dramatic soap opera or spy saga. His job is to gather information and make decisions based on that information.
