"and those dismissed as “nominal Christians”

Relax tis just a label ... or La belle for all we know, the opposing from cowed ... it jumped ship (or vassal) ...

When I was growing up in Quebec, that kind of Christianity already existed in the Catholic churches, especially the French Catholic ones. No piece of government legislation would even be put forward until it been approved by the bishop.
Protestants had a modest bonus from this. I know a Protestant clergyman who went to court to pay for a ticket. He was stopped before he could appear, and was told to forget about it. The clerk look at his clerical collar and said, "a priest cannot appear in court."

That all collapsed in the 1970s. I well remember the day I was walking toward the cathedral in Old Montreal. The streets were all closed to traffic and to parking in anticipation of the thousands that would be out to celebrate the holy day. But as I walked through the streets, I wondered where the mobs were. Then I saw them. There were 50 or so gathered across the street from the cathedral.

On the good side, English Catholics were developing an excellent social action programme.

Thus bishop-point as extension of the prick thereof? Causes a wakening in the don as swelling ... tumescence? Dear me ... another 4 in the mourning experience?

Well, we already knew this. And the real issue is what the Clintons did politically. This is self-righteous posturing. But it has nothing to do with the political behaviour of the Clintons or of Trump. Hitler, if not married to Eva Braun, was faithful to her. He was not a man who abused women. Nor have a I ever even heard of sexual misbehaviour by Joseph Stalin.

Then to link this to leftism in the Clintons (who had no leftist views at all), is absurd.

Without trying hard, I can think of a British prince, now a media darling, who was a real sexual pervert - and who never made the news. And the journalists know all about him. Then there were signers of the U.S. declaration of independence who had illegitimate babies by their slaves.

And without trying hard, I can think of an English Queen who was sexually active, to say the least, and whose lovers risked prison if she got tired of them.

Bill Clinton was certainly despicable in sexual matters. Of course he was. But his sins and his wife's sins as politicians were far worse, and harmed far, far more people, both men and women.

This 'news' item is simply hate mongering

Sex is not that important a concern for the rich an powerful they'll screw everything ... like Caesar did to the senates and the wife's thereof ... no attachments required ...

As I'm watching the chaos unfolding in Washington, I'm going to make a couple of predictions as this year begins. First, Trump will absolutely crush Bannon. "The base" will, indeed, turn out to be Trump's base and not Bannon's or Breitbart's. The book won't matter. Trump haters will love it; Trump lovers will hate it. Then, the biggie. At some point during 2018 it will be revealed/announced that the United States and North Korea have been engaging in face to face talks. Then sometime from mid 2019 to early 2020 (just as the next presidential election is heating up) Donald Trump will visit Pyongyang. (This will be a living out of the "old Vulcan proverb" that "only Nixon could visit China.") Nothing of substance will be accomplished during the visit. North Korea will not give up its nuclear weapons. But all the right words will be said and all the nice pictures will be taken and this will still be a win-win for both sides. Kim Jong Un will satisfy himself by being recognized as a big player on the world stage by having the president of the United States come to him. Donald Trump will confound his opponents by no longer being the guy threatening nuclear war and becoming being the guy making peace. He'll try to ride that to victory in 2020. His base is his base. They'll stick with him. This North Korea gambit will appeal to moderate Republicans and maybe even a few Democrats. He may well get re-elected in 2020. I'm not happy about that - but that's how I see this unfolding through the political tea leaves.

Whatever gender his predictions might be, I think he's quite possibly right.

And potentially wrong as in God's world the odds are extreme that anything can happen... so don't confine them ... you could converse them publically ... and thus they become common chatter and are rendered down as thought and thus not heard and about anymore as folded in strange space ... a mental convention? There are no words to support this continuance of public hoax in plural form?

I.E. we can't stand no Moor ... and thus it is A' Moor ... perhaps enamoured by a few ... or thus hammer din? Gun Ga Din ... like Cohens de dumb ditty ... expression about mystery of how people could know nothing ... as vacant ... and thus it was!

Conceptualized ... some say recognizant! However Jae has no thoughts on-ite ...

Does anyone but me find the rev's predictions very masculine in nature?
Yes. Political punditry/ commentary usually has a masculine tone. Because politics is male dominated, it's often expected to be, also - in order to be taken seriously.

Alternately, Trump could be fired/ impeached/ step down due to incapacity. If he hangs on until 2020, and the renewed women's movement momentum continues, a female candidate other than Hillary Clinton, could rise from the ranks of a more progressive political point of view - break up the ol' boys club - and reshape how politics and policy is done; in tone and substance.

Another possibility, is that Al Franken - who I think has, overall, done more good than his adolescent class clown butt grabbing indiscretions point to - since he did the honourable thing by stepping down, in contrast to Trump - will have been redeemed in the public eye by 2020, and he'll run for office. I don't believe he's a chronic irredeemable misogynist. i think, in the big picture, he supports women. I think he did a few stupid, impulsive, stunts that weren't funny. Like a high school boy in front of his friends. And I think he realizes it. I'm not sure what Trump realizes, whatsoever, about anything.

Or, maybe Franken's Minnesota successor, a female (Tina?), will continue his good work and run for office herself. Franken was really disappointing - because overall, I think he's one of the good guys.

And we wonder why Trump has no respect towards the Ephraim and flighty women that might threaten him further ...

Could lead to abstract dervishes that could consume the blowhards ... and Eire they be sucked into as devoid arias ... nothing left but the ballad of Tom Doo Leigh ... that one in the future considered a lessor chit? Tis mental inversion ...

This is Al Franken's voting record...at first glance much of it seems reasonable (Though I'm sure I will not agree with everything), and he supported every legislation protecting women's rights, and initiatives such as fair minimum wages, and laws inhibiting corporate overreach, and limits on election funding (I.e. SuperPacs). He is in many ways, Trump's opposite.

Neat little tool...you can see how everybody voted on every legislation, at a glance...

The Voter's Self Defense System

@Graeme Decarie, you probably know that he used to be an actor and a comedian before he was a Senator. Here he is - before he was a senator - doing a voiceover for a tongue n' cheek animated short film/ political satire, called "Supply Side Jesus". (Franken happens to be Jewish). I like him and am sorry to see him leave because the senate needed him...but I also understand that stepping down was the right thing to do.

Supply Side Jesus ... their Jesus is higher on the scale than the Jesus of the pits as described by Dante, Milton and others that had opinions on literature ... some as a utilitarian device!

It could jack peoples states of mind ... to make them feel less jilt'd ... a split on the icon "ð or đ" as a special forgotten one given the dt's as suffered when drunk on the good life!

Some feel just sucked out by the business vacuums ...

Hillary Clinton will bring forward more progressive ideas? Because women have a more feminist tone? Get real. There is nothing in her record to suggest anything but more of the same. Women are different from men? Yeah. Women like Margaret Thatcher and Bloody Mary. And I can't helped noticing that the butchery of Muslims in Rohingya is being carried out by a woman.
