It's not just Trump. This would have happened with Clinton, too. The U.S. wants to conquer the world. I know that sounds exaggerated. It's not. There's a sense of divine mission that has thrived in the U.S. for well over a century. It's sometimes called Manifest Destiny. Americans are God's chosen people.
This myth is encouraged by the wealthy - and has been from the start. That's why the U.S. (illegally) annexed the Hawaiian islands in the late 19th C. Think about it. Why would they want a naval base to protect the U.S. way out in the middle of the Pacific?
Because it wasn't to protect the U.S. It was to be America's springboard for the conquest of Asia. That ambition goes way back. But time is running out. The U.S. now confronts a China that is rising economically and militarily. Soon, it may be too late to attack China (and Russia) In fact, I suspect it is already too late. As I have often said, the American empire is in collapse. Trump is a product of the collapse, not a cause.
Big business wants its wars NOW. And big business is where decisions in the U.S. come from.
And Canada? It's a colony of the U.S. Since 1945, almost all Canadian warring has been in obedience to the U.S. In fact, we're more of a colony to the U.S. than we were to Britain. As a British colony, we were not required to fight Britain's wars. We did so (at the wish of Canadian big business in the Boer War). We could have said no in two world wars, but didn't.
Since then? Korea was an American war. It had nothing to do with Canada. Our 'peacekeeping force' in Haiti was there to assist the U.S. in overthrowing the Haitian government. Then there was us in the American war on Afghanistan. and we now have troops and/or aircraft serving U.S. purposes in latvia, Iraq and, possibly, Syria. Oh, and we had aircraft bombing Libya. Why were we bombing Libya? Was it a threat to Canada? And I would dearly love to know what our navy is doing. it has frequently been used for American purposes.
The danger of a big war is there. Even now, the U.S. probably cannot fight a conventional war against China and Russia. It would have to go nuclear.
