But the major powers blocked that from the start by giving themselves a veto. Like Russia under Stalin, the U.S. routinely ignores the UN. The UN does not, for example, approve of the war in Syria. We destroyed the UN, and we betrayed all that we said our peoples were fighting for in worl War 2.
In retrospect, I think Lester Pearson anticipated what was happening. He was a man with an extrordinary understanding of world affairs. That was why he tried to make our armed forces peacekeepers. But we have since largely abandoned that, and our armed forces are now extensions of U.S. armed forces, and designed to fight US wars.
But don't waste time telling that to Obama. I've been reliably informed that he's too dumb to understand even what's happening in his own office.
