The trainwreck is the U.S. Election. The rest is commentary.

The decision to allow the sale of armoured vehicles to the Saudis, made under Harper and honoured by the Liberals received plenty of media attention and critique. I do not agree with it - but then again am not privy to knowing what the consequences might be if Canada didn't honour it. Maybe it was another "lessor of two evils" decision. There seems to be a lot of those and it's not an enviable position to be in.I hope you brought that up in one of your columns! War is such a vicious hypocritical circle. I don't know if you watched the videos I posted but it really brings more of a reality into the inhumane aspect of involving civilians and children within this barbarism. After watching those videos, I am amazed how the children continue.
Generational change. And education and empowerment of women in Muslim countries...of everyone marginalized, but education and empowerment of women, I think, will begin to halt wars in a couple of generations if achieved. When women no longer have to fit in with the boys club to be accepted and there can be an egalitarian and less militaristic approach to governing. (*Kimmio ducks and covers*)I wonder what would be the turning point for wars to end?
WowThat this thread is now the longest and most widely viewed in WC2 Politics subforum history, is not something to be proud of.
This thread is now the train wreck that other train wrecks come to see when they want to see a bigger train wreck.
I've only "read it", and I believe you.Do NOT go to reddit, Kimmio. If you don't appreciate my responses, that's not the website for you.

Those w ho kill or exploit others need an excuse to do it. They need to feel above the common person and, really, of a different breed. Thus the aristocracies, kings, and our very own economic aristocracy. And you can see variations on that theme all the way down the social scale.
I was born very, very poor. But even we had a lower class to feel above.
The far right in today's world are racist - Ukip has racist elements. The neo-nazi types, around the world...today...are far right. You seem to want to dance around that ...and I did not characterize Obama like that. You did. Think about that. I am not even going to argue with you about Obama.kimmio, you argue points with words that have no meaning. 'Racist', for example, does not mean right wing. In fact, it has nothing to do with a wing of any sort.
Centre, politically, has a different meaning in every country. Most Canadian prime ministers of the last fifty years have been left in American terms, centre or centre right in Canadian terms.
As to Hitler, it's simplistic to call him a right winger.
You keep saying Obama had good intentions. I followed his first election. I couldn't find any intentions there beyond "We can do it." What were those good intentions? The one thing he did was obamacare. But even that was watered down to please the pharmaceutical industry.
As to blacks being worse off under Obama, that's not a wild accusation. The proportion of blacks living in poverty, always high, has increased dramatically in the last six years. (I know. he didnt know about because nobody told him.)
YOu keep speaking of opponents plotting against Obama as if this were due to racism, and was unusual.
Every president has always had the opposition groups plotting against him. Yes, his opponents use racism. But all presidents face that. I don't understand your image of poor little Obama as a Black Sambo lost in the jungle.
And you don't need a plot to understand Brexit. The British working class was doing badly under the EU. Part of the reason for that is that the EU is essentially an American device for controlliing European economies. The broad outline of economic policy for all of them is set by an American-controlled group of bankers and other capitalists.
So, okay. Obama didn't know the U.S. was supplying ISIS or that the U.S. was suppying bombs to kill people in Yemen. And he didn't know the US navy was blockading Yemen to starve people. And he knew nothing about the decline in living standards for blacks in the U.S. Did he also have to be spoon fed.
As for Saudi Arabia being too powerful to attack - nonsense. It can't defeat tiny and poor Yemen. And the U.S. couldn't defeat it? Well, maybe. It hasn't be able to defeat anybody for quite a while.
And then you extend the excuses to Trudeau. Poor man. He had to send those armoured cars to Saudi Arabia. We don't know why but he had to.
Rubbish.
Canada had signed a treaty not to deal weapons to Saudia Arabia because of its human rights record. IT WAS ILLEGAL FOR CANADA TO SEND THEM. Justin sent them anyway. There was not even a pretence we had to send them. Don't make up excuses. You do that all the time.
I have neighbours my age, he's British. He was against it. His father is for it. He wants a multicultural open border Europe. His dad doesn't. This is the narrative being reported on, too. Largely, older voters, baby boomers and older, voted Leave - younger voters wanted Remain. And some younger less educated voters in poorer areas. It is a similar dynamic with Trump supporters. And there is a fear and resentment of change in the world that includes multiculturalism. And that fear and resentment is racism! Riling up the internal subconscious hate and xenophobia, appeal to the inner racist. I think it is you who doesn't understand what racism is.kimmio - you have no idea what the word racism means. Nor do you understand right wing and left wing.
By your definition, communists cannot be racist. After all, they're extreme left wing. In fact, I have known a good number of communist racists. Hitler introduced considerable measures of social legislation, like state subidized vacations for the world class. That's left wing.
And you have said, often, that Obama had good intentions. Well? What were they? And how do you know he had them? Did he chat with you about them?
You don't live in Britain. But you know all about why the Brits voted for Brexit. What a wonderful power of insight!
Some of it was racism, of course. Britain, like every country I have ever heard of, has a long history of racism.. But British nostalgia? Nostalgia about what? And if people in a depressed economy want to change things, it's just because they want to blame others for taking away their opportunities? No doubt some do. But it doesn't require such a complex explanation to say why the poor don't like being poor, and want to change it. Do you look down on the poor and think they deserve to better than being poor? And, as you should know if you are going to discuss Brexit, the countries in Brexit have very, very limited contol of their economies. Is there something wrong with people wanting to control their economies? ( As it was, their economy was controlled largely by international bankers, mostly appointed by the U.S.)
And didn't you wonder why the British rich opposed Brexit? Was it because they superior to the common people? Poverty in Britain IS rising. But wealthy for the British wealthy is also rising. The rich are against Brexit, of course. They're making money out of the EU system. And, like Europeans, the British are aware that in the next war, Europe is the opening battlefield.
Anyway, blaming others for taking away your opportunity is not racism. That's not what the word means. And, incidentally, for most of us, our opportunities ARE taken away by others. Who do you think does it? Humming bees?
I have no idea why you seem to think my criticism of Trudeau was a personal attack on you. But I do notice that when I criticize you, I'm 'yelling' at you. Gee. that's just like those Brits who blame others for their problems.
neighbours, father, dad.
