TRUMP - Some people think......... How do you feel?

The problem I'm contemplating now is what happens when Bernie loses. Will all those young people supporting him actually switch to Hilary or just sit on their hands come election day and complain that the establishment "took their voice away"?

Ditto Trump, really. If the GOP maneuvers someone else into the nomination, will his angry Republicans actually vote GOP or just not show up (or vote Trump if he decides to go third party)?

I'm thinking that the establishment in both parties need to be really, really careful about how they handle this. Any perception in either party that the establishment is fighting to cling to power is just going to make things worse in the long haul. Maybe not "riots in the streets" worse, but definitely some internal power struggles that could affect not only this fall's election, but 2020 and beyond as well.

And, really, we all know the outcome. A new establishment replaces the old one and we go through the whole thing again sometime around 2050 when the angry kids of today have become the fossilized establishment that the angry kids of the future hate. "Meet the new boss; same as the old boss," as Pete put it.
Not sure where I read it in the last couple of days...an editorial about the possibility of Bernie being chosen as Hillary's running mate. Some Bernie supporting commenters were saying (paraphrased) "It'll never happen. He'll be a sell out, a hypocrite." Others were saying "He's a politician afterall, don't be too surprised." And "Hillary knows how much support he has and the she needs him because although she's winning, her margins are not so huge as someone well known and established with lots of lobby money - whereas Bernie came in from out of nowhere, raised funds from private citizens and became a serious enough contender to be paid attention to." Maybe that could happen. It's certainly an interesting and surprising election.

Another point made about the possibility of Cinton choosing Sanders as her running mate was...looking back at 2008, Clinton and Obama were campaigning as real foes for awhile then Obama appointed Clinton to be Secretary of State...in politics, strange things have been known to happen.

ummm dirty politics. Government of the people.

But if you don't like the way its going, play some tricks.

An interesting article from The Guardian on how China, both official and on the street, is viewing the US election:

http://www.theguardian.com/us-news/...s-a-joke-says-china-just-look-at-donald-trump

Short version: They are using it to show what a farce democracy can become when done badly. And, believe me, that's not just an official position. I know Chinese people here who think it so you can't just blame it on believing propaganda.

Once again, loony elements of the left are inadvertently helping Trump's case with their persistent attempts to thwart free speech. In Arizona, protesters block a highway to prevent Trump supporters from attending his rally. Angry motorists risked lives by driving against the flow of traffic around the blockade. Thankfully, several arrests were made. This fascist behavior is the best reason to support Trump--but not a sufficient reason! :)

You know, I'm no fan of Trump but I wish the idiots pulling stunts like this would realize that they are not helping their case with this kind of behaviour. Best to just stand back and let him rant. The more stupid things he says, the more likely it is that moderate voters will realize the risk and vote Democrat in November.

Extreme oppositions do not allow mediums ... so you shouldn't consider the ways to get around the oppositional poles ... thus the inbred emotions about Pole Aches ... the Nazi's believed them people that amounted to nothing compared to blue-eyed blond hairy jinnies!

Thus the battle goes on and on ...

Actress Susan Sarandon has a reputation as an avid liberal/ progressive. She supports Bernie Sanders, but says she would prefer a Trump presidency toa Clinton presidency because Clinton is too status quo.

Why are we to especially care about Ms. Sarandon's views?

Why are we to especially care about Ms. Sarandon's views?

For 2 reasons:
(1) She demonstrates Trump's crossover appeal for many liberals.
(2) In the USA, Hollywood is often seen as a bellweather of the cool way to vote. :)

Trump's meteoric rise to prominence could not have happened at any other time in American history. In my view, our understanding of why is too simplistic. Books and doctoral theses in future decades will have the historical perspective to analyze all the reasons that emerge as the depths of American political discontent slowly emerge.

Are you trying to make this a complex issue?(y)

That's not quite why. In fact, Sarandon said (according the article linked below), “Some people feel that Donald Trump will bring the revolution immediately if he gets in, things will really explode." IOW, it is not about Clinton being "too status quo" to be President but being "too status quo" to generate the kind of rage needed to trigger a "revolution". At least that's this article's analysis.
