One of the many reasons people want Trump out of office, and are therefore enthralled by the impeachment hearings.

Y'all do realize that this is a lot of hot air being blown. I'm not suggesting that Trump shouldn't be kicked out of office. I think there's more than enough evidence to support that. But while he will be impeached he will not be convicted in the Senate. The Republicans are rock solid behind him even after all the evidence. They happily malign and smear military veterans, foreign service professionals and intelligence agencies to defend him. There are lots of American conservatives outside Congress who oppose Trump (David Frum, Joe Walsh, George Will, Joe Scarborough and George Conway to name a few) but Republicans in Congress (especially those facing re-election) are terrified of the Trump cult ousting them in primary challenges. The Democrats would have to convince 20 Republican Senators (and lose not a single one of their own) to remove him. Ain't gonna happen. This is really about positioning for the 2020 election.

Having said that, what else do they have to do? The Republican Senate won't even allow debate on most of the legislation the Democratic House sends to it. Gotta do something to kill time.

Charles Fried was Solicitor-General of the United States under Ronald Reagan. He is a conservative and a member and lawyer for the conservative Federalist Society. But in 2016 he endorsed Hilary Clinton for president. He recently said, “Conservatism is respect for the rule of law. It is respect for tradition. But the people who claim they’re conservatives today are demanding loyalty to this completely lawless, ignorant, foul-mouthed president.”

The Democrats just want to smear the Republicans before the upcoming election is all.

Trump won’t get ousted from office.

And if the democrats don’t get their act together behind someone that is in the middle, he will get re-elected too

The medium will be denied by both sides ... according to the adage ... your either with or against as if there is no alter position ... kind've out the in the demands for pleasure ... hedonism reins! Discomfort for the extremes is unacceptable ... the lessor are laid to rest as debris of the conflict that is denied ... no conflicts in the myth of gods! Its all true but twisted in warped time ... bumps, grinds with all the wrinkles!

It's a political process and everyone knows what the outcome will be: impeachment by the House and acquittal by the Senate. So it's all about scoring political points.

The Democrats are doing this on a pretty quick timeline. My guess is that they're doing it that way because they know that the longer it drags out the more tired Americans will become with the process and if it's dragged out too long it could backfire badly on the Democrats. So go for a relatively quick impeachment in the House and let the Senate conduct a quick trial. Score some points but don't overdo it. That's the Democratic strategy in my opinion.

And, much as I dislike saying it, I still think there at least a 50-50 chance (and maybe more) of Trump being re-elected.

Thus positive and negative points ... eliminating the necessary medium points as information cannot be extracted from stones and fixed points!

On the edge of the fulcrum ... balance to a point of too many political thumbs ... one has to look at the polity from a rogue position ... and Jesus was it in mythical proportion ... an ignited aerie item ... abstract? This a fading hue from whiter shade ... pseudonym for the Shadow?

Hood ah thought ... Yah ... that's it!

Well, obviously. If I was a Democrat now, I'd want Biden as our candidate. Apparently Trump's most concerned about him.

Personally, I prefer Warren but, yeah, as the more mainstream of the candidates with a chance, Biden is probably the best option if the goal is to simply take down Trump.

Personally, I prefer Yang. His chances aren't great though. I started liking Biden when I watched his CNN Town Hall.

Its all pure Nunes NDs according to ranking characters ... thus I take all earthy fixations as dubious!

Is this unimaginable to those dug in?

Some fun: Trump has distance relatives in Germany, who made a video to change his mind on climate change. It shows the birth house of Donald ancestor who emigrated from Germany

Are you kidding me?! For one thing, the neoliberal “middle” is clearly not really centred anymore if it ever was. And Biden has lost a cognitive step or two, I think, anyway. He is a bad choice. He can’t win against Trump. He’s not the best contender, because Trump, in his mad-king way is conniving even when he’s off his rocker. Bernie Sanders would be the best match in the “ring” to beat Trump, as far as the election goes, but next is Warren (doesn’t look like Sanders will make it as the dem candidate at this point, and I worry about his health). It wouldn’t surprise me if the Bidens did have some corrupt, or at least borderline, business in Ukraine (and Trump should not have used his office bribe a foreign country to investigate an election opponent, regardless)...because why was Hunter Biden on the board of a Ukranian oil company, anyway?...it’s not a good look, at best...and if that’s the case...or even if it’s not the case but looks suspect enough to get Republicans on side with Trump and smear Biden all election season long with whatever they can dig up (or have already waiting to throw at him)...Biden is the absolute worst opponent to face off with Trump. I don’t think he can, or should. 2016 was not that long ago and people are thinking it’s a good idea to go backwards and repeat the same mistakes already??! :notworthy:

The problem is the "swing voters", centrist voters who aren't necessarily committed to a party but who can decide elections. They are not likely to be attracted by an extreme (for the US) left position or by an "anybody but Trump" argument. Given a choice between the anti-wealth rhetoric of the progressive Dems and staying the course, they will stay the course. Biden might be able to get those votes where Warren or Sanders might not (without toning down their rhetoric). And that's without getting into any hopes they may have about getting votes from centrist Republicans who are fed up with this administration.

In short, I wouldn't vote for the guy myself, but I do get that the political reality they are facing makes him appealing.

I think it’s a mistake for the dems to downplay the Bidens in all this...and I still think Trump is guilty. The mainstream media should be more critical of Trump and Biden. And millennials could very well be the deciding force of 2020 and throw that old swing state model off, anyway.

You don't suppose corruption has gone mainstream?

How did that happen except by a crisis of psychic proportion ... a downer considered positive in capital zones? Let the chaos begin ... oh I forgot it was all initiated by powerful "ide" al-isms of the alternate kind!

"Ide" being defined as the primal power that caused fallacy in the heavens ... logos pass'd? That's the word ...
