It will be interesting to see if republican senators stand by him. Or if they smell blood in the water and attack. I read that few like him but he is a bully who is feared for his power. If they sense he is wounded they may not stand by him
Only two presidents have been impeached...Bill Clinton and Andrew Jackson...both were later acquitted by the senate and not removed from office. Nixon resigned before he could be impeached.
Democrats might as well just try to win the election.

If Trump should be impeached ... Biden should drop out of the presidential race.

I don't really understand why the Dems are doing this. If they play their cards with any competence, they will be in office in 2020.
And impeaching Trump leaves you with...Pence, who is not necessarily a better thing. He probably wouldn't get far, but his aim is theocratic.

Pence is also on the table to some extent. Someone told me that of both Trump and Pence were booted out of office then Nancy Pelosi would be president. I'm not saying I expect that to happen anytime soon. It would be so sweet though.
They would only have Pence for a year, unless he steps down or is impeached too. I don't think he'd be chosen to run for 2020. The Republican Committee would still need to chose the candidate wouldn't they? I don't think he automatically becomes their top pick. Pence would be acting president but not 2020 candidate, I don't think.
They're doing it partly because constitutionally they have to! Transcripts show Trump himself hustled a foreign official for election dirt on on an opponent. And they want to do it because Trump is the worst president ever in office.
