For bearing faithful public witness specific to the abuse of power specific to the plight of the broken poor I was harshly treated by the police. Two of them seized me by the wrists, twisted back my arms and slammed handcuffs on to my wrists. My face was pressed hard into a stucco wall. Knocking my glasses to the ground and opening a bloody wound in my forehead. Then thrown forcefully into a police van. Taken to the city jail. Stripped naked. Subject to a symbolic sodomization and thrown into a cell. Where I remained for nearly thirty hours. Then released under coercive terms.

The matter came to trial. I was charged with five criminal counts. Two of them for assaulting the police officers who forcefully seized me. When they twisted my arms behind my back my elbows bumped their bodies. The trial was a farce. But it provided me with opportunity to witness to the way of Jesus revealed in the gospels and the prophetic tradition of ancient Israel. I began my testimony by speaking about the promise of the spirit's sufficiency when brought before the law. Trusting the word of God I would tell my side of the story, including why I was there and what happened. After many months the judge acquitted me of all charges.

This is one example of many I have in memory. Standing up for truth in the public square is dangerous business in Canada as elsewhere.

...and i think by living this way that is better a way of spreading Jesus' message than testifying on a street corner...imho :3 Christians have different talents and temperments

"joining society" urge is part of what makes me a bit sad when misfits and unique people like the American Irish and American blacks and homosexuals instead of wanting to stay unique and undomesticated there is this urge to belong and get the white picket fence the marriage to become domesticated...i wonder where that comes from?

You've never heard or the massive use of cameras in public places? You've never heard of the surveillance of ethnic groups? You haven't heard of the militarization of police - of the equipping of them with light tanks and armoured cars?

I've heard that Dominos and Amazon want to use them to deliver pizzas, books, etc. That's pretty cool. One of my nephews has a drone. We were out playing with it in the park the other night. Fun!
