Indeed and I do hope that everyone here (including Redbaron) can also condemn the acts of the Antifa those several times in Berkeley; the property damage n harrassment n death threats at Evergreen State College and so forth...

Today the White House issued a new statement saying that the president condemns all hatred and bigotry, and that of course that includes that which comes from hate groups. Sadly lacking (from what I just heard on the news anyway) is any kind of word on what (if anything) he'll do to end said hatred and bigotry.

There IS bigotry and violence on many sides
Berkeley riots...Antifa (regressive left), Evergreen State University, compelled speech in Canada now (bigotry), and much more.

Trump could use his...authority to stamp out white supremist groups...antifa...the regressive left...

He is again right aboot many sides...

I keep hearing how difficult it has become for people to talk aboot things in Merryca without it becoming far right or far left...it is stupid that it seems that believing in facts and free speech gets people mudsplattered with that stupid scarlett letter Alt Right or racist or Far Right

Inanna, you have to go back a few years before Trump...the white supremacist alt-right are a core of the base that elected Trump.

BLM etc. are reacting...not well, it doesn't help, I agree. But they didn't elect the guy. They are reacting to the cause of who did elect him - and that cause hates them. Angry white men still hold most of the power and privelege and there is a rather unwieldy cohort of them that are pissed about it slipping away from them at all - pissed about women's equality, pissed that a black man could've ever been elected during their lifetime...and they want the good ol' boys to "take their country back" - and Trump is largely responsible because he helped foment racial tension against black people with his involvement and promotion of Birtherism during the Obama years. That's how he attracted the neo-nazi KKK people to becoming a strong part of his base to begin with.

Yes. Everybody needs to calm down but nobody should be appeasing these neo-nazi jerks either.

Were they breaking the law?
Ideas dont break the law in America. Actions do.
Unlike in Canada, where we have ideas that are illegal.
The car attack was illegal and should be prosecuted. All of the accomplices also. And all of them are still innocent until proven guilty.
KKK as long as they don't break the law...

BLM has its own problems. No one elected them. They do not speak for all or most "blacks". That is a big problem with identity politics. Made up identities are infinite in gradations...so what constitutes a BLM member is basically without much Truth and is really up to whoever claims the identity and it suffers from a similar problem since there are an infinite # of fake identities, they can and will turn on themselves.

People should concentrate on the Truth. Find out what the real differences are between people and accommodate that, build policies to help with that when and where needed, NOT around infinite made up identities or social justice first and equity (equality of outcome leads to Soviet Russia...)

Frankly you dont know the flying f*** who really voted 4 Trump. You only know what certain media you accept as True has told u. You are an elitist, urban bigot who is blind towards violence and bigotry on "your" side. Violence and bigotry is violence and bigotry no matter what yer skin colour or sex.

Its quite possible. We are watching the breakdown of a nation. Most of what Americans believe the U.S. was and is about is not true. And that goes back to the founding fathers. But that myth was the only image Americans had of who they are - and now it's in collapse - with no intelligent alternative in sight.
 
We are also watching the deadly effect of a largely uncontrolled capitalism. It has led the U.S. into some 70 wars since 1945. It controls the government - instead of the other way around. And it has nothing but contempt for human needs. It is hard to imagine a system more anti-Christian. (And not surprising that evangelists would be major supporters of it.
Americans are reacting - but it's a blind reaction with no sense of what the problem is.

Thirty years ago the police dragged me out of the public square. Why? For standing silently with an inch square piece of paper. On the paper I had printed "the police state is coming".

For thirty years I have persisted in pronouncing this message at every available opportunity.

Would be happy to be found in error. This is possible but not probable.

All while the general public averts it's eyes and focuses on diverse diversions to avoid the unfolding reality.

Arguably we can all be labelled elitist or bigoted or something similar, at least some of the time. We who post here presumably enjoy a fair amount of privilege. It's hard being challenged.
 
Hi,

Years ago I read a book by Thomas Merton titled: Conjectures of a Guilty Bystander". Led me to acknowledge my complicity in the decline of our civilization and determine to practice active resistance.
