Apparently they don't need to be hired. There are plenty. But if someone wants to pay them anyway, I guess they figure "why not?"Hired... ah, you mean like many of the anti-Trump protesters were.![]()

That's not how it works, Jae. There are "professional" protesters but I think they stay aligned with certain causes and stick to their sides of the fence.
Kimmio said:There are often also under cover provocateurs paid by the government in some places, to disrupt peaceful protests that they know of ahead of time.
Jae "agents provocateurs" have been an M.O. for a long time. They want to disrupt peaceful protests that they don't want people protesting about. Usually big issues. They hide amongst real and peaceful protesters, provoke problems, then the authorities have to be brought in to shut it down.
"The Yes Men" opens in October?
Luckily, I have nothing but free time in the coming October.
It opened several Octobers ago. Sometime in the past decade. That's an old clip. But it was a hilarious movie...based on real pranks."The Yes Men" opens in October?

Well, not 'that' long ago. 2009. It's still available to watch. It was way back? sometime in the past decade? Sigh. That's the story of my life.
People like those guys are one of the reasons I love Americans. Canadians, as nice and polite as we are...don't have the same hutzpah. Maybe we'll stomp our feet once we get good and mad...but what's the equivalent of the Yes Men, here? They are really funny. And Stephen Colbert? I guess we have 22 minutes and Rick Mercer but even they are not nearly as brave.
Funny protests - truly witty and smart, not disparaging schoolyard mocking - are really the only effective way to do it anymore, imo.
Somehow, after all the years of being culturally sandwiched between the Americans and the British, our courage and sense of humour got a bit squashed - but they've both still got it.
