Reading into some strange things can extend the notion of everything as an unknown god ...

I realize that among complementarians that is how it is framed - that women can have KEY positions of leadership. But we both know that when it comes to real positions of authority they are only held by men in such churches. I realize that this approach to the sexes/roles/leadership is part of your approach to faith and based on your interpretation of Scripture. I believe that such interpretation of Scripture is erroneous and self-serving. We'll have to agree to disagree.
Hmm... I consider a position that's second in leadership to be one of authority. Surprised to learn that you don't (?).

Our female Deacon has as much authority as our male Deacon does. They are each second in leadership to our Senior Pastor.

Possibly read it. My understanding is that whether this is myth or true this was a story that existed for women that possibly helped them rise above the patriarchy of the early church in their day. To lift them up and to reclaim their worth as equals.
I realize this is not what you would believe but I personally am not held by 2000 year old edicts made by the ancient church fathers to not believe she may have been considered a role model for ancient Christian women. She has further been removed as a saint within our own lifetime by the RC church due to lack of historical proof.....or once again perhaps interferes with the churchea agenda.

Have to agree to disagree on what DaisyJane? We can agree to disagree on what roles men and women should have in the Church. It is considerably more difficult to agree to disagree on how much authority the female Deacon of my Toronto church enjoys.

Woman was and should be dependent on man. Her status should never be that of a senior leader in the Church.

So the Fall was brought about, which, in its results, continues today. The woman's subordination is plainly shown, a fact which excludes her from being a pastor (minister, priest), where her office would give her dominion over the man.
