Matthew 24: 34

Or do you interpret the reference as a future generation?

I am also going by Jesus's sense of urgency throughout His ministry.

"Then I saw a new heaven and a new earth; for the first heaven and the first earth had passed away, and there was no more sea (Revelation 21:1)."
The messianic age does not occur on a remodeled earth; for our earth :"passes away." The new earth differs from our earth, which is mostly ocean, by lacking any sea. So it is probably a new world in a spirual dimesion like Paradise, which means "park" or "garden." Paradise and the new earth may in fact be one and the same.

Sorry not seeing the connection to Matthew 24: 34

My post was addressing the setting of the 1,000 year (messianic) reign of the vision in Rev. 20:1-5.
Matthew 24 addresses 2 separate questions: when the Temple will be destroyed and when Jesus will return. After giving the signs of Jesus' return, Matthew says that Jesus' return will occur in "this generation," i. e. the generation in which these signs begin to occur.

The threads are becoming interwoven here. No worries. I am doing it too.

Watch for the epistle of Jude coming up in a few days as the BPoTW. Hosted by yours truly

I don't find the setting to be clear in Revelation. It talks about two deaths and two resurrections. The new heaven and new earth come after the 1000 years when Satan is released and subsequently defeated.

Yes I can see them being separate predictions in Matthew. The parallel passage in Mark reads the same way.

Luke seems to combine the destruction of Jerusalem with the arrival of the Son of Man.

Re Call ... don't shoot the messenger!

It may be buried in myth and other dark things ... one has to experience bad news in order to appreciate the pain in others ... psychopathy? It has nothing of psychic path eh! Happens on a clear arid even ...

Revelations was addressed to communities experiencing oppression and challenges, mostly by the Roman empire.h. Babylon was almost certainly code for Rome. To me, the main goal was to discourage members from abandoning their communities. There was a desire for vengeance against Rome and individuals seen as enemies of the communities he lead. Finally, there is hope offered in the closing chapters.
