You're whatever you need to be to get reactions. Once that identity has run its course, you'll find a new way to sabotage your social interactions.
 
Did I suggest it was complete? No; it was the outlines. Your particular 'gender skew' on potential careers sort of lets you out, but I don't really care. I'm just glad that the young woman looking for a new congregation found ours, not the same kind as she left (one that demanded she remain her birth gender),
 
I was going to take a wrist shot at blessings and miracles, but you folks seemed to have stick handled your way into science, scientists, the scientific purview of engineering and who's in net but Bill Nye the science guy! I'm heading back to the bench for a pull on my water bottle...;-) Not that science isn't germaine to the discussion. There's a fascinating cover story in the National Geographic on the science behind faith and the role it plays in our well being...

Dave, the way I handle this type of derail -
If I think I have something to contribute to the original topic is to go back to the opening post and respond to it - something like 'In response to the opening post, in my opinion .... '
Sometimes it works and I find people who want to discuss the topic; sometimes it gets ignored and the derail goes on.

If I really want to discuss it I will open another thread on the topic but with a different opening post and see if I can get a bit.

And sometimes it's okay to sit back and enjoy the scenery as the derail takes us into new territory...

It does enter an aria of divine humour and thus that distant melody ... in the sense of and intelligent god wishing us to give "M" a song and dance routine ... way out!
 
Actually, to nudge this back on track a bit: How do you know when something is a "blessing" and when it is just life happening? Or do you just regard every positive thing that happens as a "blessing"? Is life itself a blessing or perhaps a miracle?
 
That's basically what I wrote in my first reply, just not as funny.

Put another way, are good things allowed to not be blessings?
 
I agree with Francis Chan that the leaders of the Church are afraid of making mistakes and I agree that there is so much pressure being put on leaders and one thing I like is Francis Chan has God's word in front of him and he is using it to address these leaders ------Like he says where is the strength and the courage of leaders today -----He says that many keep learning but they never come to a knowledge of the truth and I so agree with this ----

I believe personally that Leaders are afraid that if they preach the whole truth that the truth itself will turn people off and their congregation will dwindle so fear plays a big part in my view and the leaders are under pressure from the higher ups to ---------I personally feel that if the Holy Spirit is directing the leader in their approach to the truth that all would be well and the fear of loosing people would become obsolete -----as scripture says --the truth will set you free ------

The Church Building needs people to give so it can continue to stand for the church (people ) will have a place to worship ------so money is involved no people no money -----so the pressure is all about funds to help the poor and keep repairs going and community things in place ----the church is a business -----

[FONT=Open Sans, sans-serif]the problem is (im not saying you ) but the problem is , is that the Truth is suppose to lead us to Christ and His works but many times church leaders lead the church to legalism and the people do not want this fear and control, they want and need the Presence of the Spirit and the freedom Christ brings .[/FONT]

Many times leaders lead people to be ethical but they don't lead them to be godly.
