Edited: disappointed in Forbes not that I’ve ever been really interested in Forbes. I thought, for the most part, it’s got a bias for money but it’s not the worst publication in terms of discussing reality. I’m wary of this. It just fuels a “debate” that shouldn’t be happening.

Just as an afterthought on this 51st state topic, where are all the trucker and anti-vaccine mandate protesters? The ones claiming government tyranny?

Here we have a foreign government threatening actual tyranny over us, and all I hear are crickets from those guys. They're protesting Carney instead.

I saw mandate protests last fall, at a common right-wing protest site in Shelbourne, Ontario.

I've seen no protest there about the US wanting to annex us. Not a peep. Not so much as a bumper sticker next to the fading "f*** Trudeau" one.

The people claiming tyranny wouldn't know the meaning of the word if they were sent to Guantanamo Bay without due process.

I find it difficult to differentiate between any different group

We listened to Martha Chavez on a comedy program on CBC this afternoon. Her last sketch was about the Freedom Convoy. It included several elements. The first was about how Trudeau is so good looking, they all wanted to F him. The second was about their cries for freedom and complaints about being under a tyranny while having the freedom to say terrible things about Trudeau and occupy downtown Ottawa for three weeks. Under a real tyranny, they would have been in jail. She was from Nicaragua and talked about what happens in real tyrannies and being sent to Guantanamo.

Trump is showing the world what a real tyranny looks like. I doubt that many of the continuing supporters of the Freedom Convoy would recognize the contrast between what people are experiencing there for petty or no reasons and what they complain about here. I suspect it might be because they dislike the same people Trump dislikes.

I just read about a doctor and an immigration lawyer - both US citizens - having real emails sent to them in error saying they need to leave the country. And now, the red tape they’re going through to try to sort it out. Recognizing that some others like them may have dismissed it as spam, might get a knock on the door and shipped who knows where. And then there are the non-citizens, maybe green card holders, maybe not but have lived their whole lives there - being sent away! It’s horrible.

PM Trudeau illegally invoked the Emergencies Act against Canadians to suppress a legitimate protest, seize bank accounts of regular people, and take political prisoners. A government that needs this kind of authoritarian power to get its way has lost moral authority. Justin Trudeau is internationally infamous as a tyrant and a cautionary example of leadership gone wrong.
