After seeing a matinee performance of "Beautiful" today, we went for supper at a nearby pub on Yonge St. Got a great table right by the street - terrific people watching on Yonge! Then ... what did my eyes behold but this ....

VERY shiny reflective gold Range Rover -  . I'm sure that's a once in a lifetime sighting.

Anybody ever seen such a vehicle? I wonder who would drive such a beast?

Lucky you!

Goldfinger is alive!!! I wonder if he's turned the other cheek and is now doing altruistic work, like giving job training to those on Bay Street who have lost their jobs?

(Wonder if the car has built in Perrier fountain with Goldfish...)

It looks awful to my eye. Then again, I'm not a fan of Land Rover's designs in the first place. Their sister company Jaguar is more to my taste and I'm quite sure that I would Hulk out on anyone who put that colour on a Jag.

Indeed chansen - lots of ridiculously expensive cars up in your neighbourhood! But have you ever seen a shiny gold one? More money than brains sometimes ....
I've seen chromed silver and blue cars. The blue was a Lambo, I think. There's a new Lambo not far from where I live. I'm not sure how I can afford to be here. But they went the other way - it's painted in a matte finish.

The supercar drivers are pretty respectful and careful drivers. You have to watch out for the moms in the white SUVs. Our neighbour 2 doors down has been known to go the wrong way on a roundabout to turn left. A Land Rover (I'm told) took out a street lamp last week, just down the street from us. I like to think it was white. Most are in this area. It snapped the concrete pole. I'd look for paint marks on what remains, but it's covered in tape. There is no evidence that the driver even used the brakes. Looks like they lost the back end to oversteer at the roundabout, hopped the curb, and into the pole.

The supercar drivers don't want any dings or scratches.

Or even gravel thrown up at their fenders from their own tires. One guy has an Audi R8 V10 (600HP), and he drives like a grandma in the neighbourhood. On highway 400, it's a different story. But that's not his everyday car. His daily driver is a more sedate Merc C63 AMG, with only 500 HP.

I still maintain that it's more fun to drive a slow car fast than a fast car slow. Of course, I've never owned a truly fast car.

Agreed.

Our neighbourhood is fairly sedate car-wise. There used to be a couple Maseratis around but I haven't seen them in a while and one guy down by my mailbox had a BMW i8 (beautiful automobile, BTW) around for a bit but otherwise the flashiest you get are fairly routine stuff like 1, 3 and 5 series Bimmers, esp. the SUV models, and C and E series Benzes.

I used to drive a Honda prelude. By the time I owned it, it was past its prime, and I put a big cosmetic ding in it very shortly. However, it was the fastest 0-60 car made that year, and I never had anyone beat me from a stop. It was often funny to see the expressions of (men) when this little middle aged lady in her dinged up old car beat them to the end of the merge lane, lol...

In my neighbourhood we have some cars that are horribly LOUD ... they're not spectacular looking (although I only glimpse them occasionally), but LOUD, wow. And of course there's never a police cruiser around when needed!!

I find the worst offenders in this category are usually aging relics that some "kid" (in terms of mentality, not necessarily age) has juiced up.

What we have here is young Sheiks who race their Lambos on a highway that isn't lit at night, is constantly having accidents and avalanches and is twistier than Trump's soul.

They are a delight to watch downtown. One's social status goes up just by mentioning them.

Don't mention it or social thought comes down too ...
