New music from Dutch symphonic metal act Delain. Their lead singer Diana Leah left them so they are trying a new format, having multiple guest singers rather than a fixed lead singer. We'll see how this goes. Band founder Martin Westerholt is pretty creative guy and the band has a history of working with guests singers so I'm not surprised to see him trying something like this. Vocalists are Swiss singer Fabienne "Fabi" Erni (Eluveite and Illumishade), Italian Paolo Ribaldini (who has worked with Martin before), and Israeli Noa Gruman (Scardust). I am guessing this is a "gap filler" and there will be a successor to Diana at some point.

As for Diana, no word yet. Maybe a solo career? She's a good singer so I am sure she won't just disappear. Born in Romania and a resident of Italy since she was 10, Diana actually lived in Ottawa for 5 years in her twenties.

One of Diana's last releases with Delain, also featuring Paolo.

So after I posted that, I discovered that I actually had a video in my recommendations from "DYYA". And realized from the cover image that it was Diana. DYYA is Diana Leah's solo act and dates back several months. So either this split happened a while ago but has only just been announced or she's been quietly preparing for going solo.

Concert tonight.

Opening act was Tennyson King

Primary was The Pairs
Great harmonies. They grew up singing in London, @Mendalla

Interesting, the band is comprised of twins, and another woman who is a twin, and has been friends since basically birth (the mother's were friends).
been singing together for many years.

It's kind of scary how many artists I am finding who came out of the London scene. The Lander sisters of recently reunited nu metal band Kittie are from here, too.

And twin bands are an interesting thing. Harp Twins and Vulfgang Twins are both pairs of twins. Just to confuse things, each Harp Twin is married to a Vulfgang (yes, they do somehow manage to keep track of who is married to whom), so the two pairs of twins often perform together nowadays.

And the song of the day, at least for me. I don't know if it was planned this way, but the new single from Floor Jansen's upcoming second solo album is "Everything is Moving On" and comes a week after Floor left Finnish metal act Nightwish to pursue her solo career full time (it's not clear which side pulled the trigger, but the band has a bad history with vocalists so there's a lot of suspicion around what actually happened).

The new song is a real banger, melding a melodic anthem that wouldn't sound out of place on her debut solo album Paragon with some of the heaviest metal riffs yet from the new album. She's really pushing all the right buttons. January 15 is the release date and also marks the start of her most ambitious solo tour yet, covering much of Northern and Western Europe as well as Latin America, where the popularity of metal should pack them in even without Nightwish behind her. No North American dates yet and I am afraid the big orange Cheeto gets some of the blame for that. I'm crossing my fingers that she can see her way to jumping over the beast to the South of us and visit us here in Canada after her Latin America tour ends.

How far do you think we could move on in the abstract ... eternally imagined as that spirit out there?

Some authorities declare that nothing goes on but story, legend, myth and song if harmonized ... then a mass don't understand any of it because they didn't wish to know ... it is ongoing ...

New Nome Naku today as well, a collaboration with someone called Yara Liz who I need to learn about. As usual, Nome was quite hands-on for the song and video, with Yara co-writing and co-producing.

Holy sheep. I had only listened to the song. Just saw the video. What a powerful song it becomes in context. The video has, besides her performing the song, images from throughout her career and life, including some Nightwish footage. There's also some nice "backstage" footage of Floor and album producer/backing musician Gordon Groothedde working on the song. It really is a proclamation of Floor launching the next phase in her life and career. She's really good at these type of song. "My Paragon" from the last album was one, too (and I caught at least one still from that video in the background). Some very recent stuff in there, too, so this must have been put together quite recently (e.g. her recent performance at the final Dutch Grand Prix).

Ukrainian band Ignea, like a lot of modern metal bands, draws on multiple streams of metal rather than being "xx metal" band. Death metal, symphonic metal, power metal, and others can all be heard at times in their music. They just use the term "melodic metal". Their latest album came out Friday and this is the latest single and video which leans hard into a melodic death metal sound with some spectacular growls from vocalist Helle Bohdanova alongside cleans from guest vocalist Britta Gortz of the band Hiraes.

While they are a few years old now, Kalandra are a recent discovery for me. The Norwegian band do Nordic folk-rock and feature beautiful, ethereal vocals by Katrine Stenbokk. Here, Katrine teams with Danish multitalent Myrkur (writes, sings, plays several instruments, produces, makes her own videos) for a new Myrkur song with a nice ballet video.

It's not often I post a full show here, but Live From The Apocalypse by Swiss rock/metal singer Melissa Bonny is amazing. I have been a fan of Melissa for a while now through her various bands (she's been in four over the years, current active in one). She has a terrific clean voice but is also capable of fantastic death growls. On stage and video, she is an energetic, enthusiastic performer.

The video itself is live in a studio set and recorded by Mirko Witski, a noted music video producer/director in the European music scene. The music for this live performance is basically the track list from Cherry Red Apocalypse, her first solo album. The songs range from "Snakebite", which is basically her usual metal sound and wouldn't sound out of place on an album by her band Ad Infinitum, to some more pop-sounding tracks. The live performances are a bit heavier than the album, I would say.

The backup band is the one going on tour with her next year when she is the supporting act for Dutch singer Charlotte Wessels, another favourite of mine. The drummer is of particular note. Morten Lowe Sorenson, best known for playing in the Swedish band Amaranthe, isn't just Melissa's drummer but her husband and also plays with her in the band Dark Side of the Moon that she co-founded. Must make touring more fun to have him along.

*viewer discretion* Some old school dubstep/trap remixes. I like to mix up a 'tiktok/reel' of my own now-a-days.
I mixed in the Terminator dialogue at the start of it, used AI to slap together some imagery based on me (#Cyberpunk #ITmma #OSINT #WOPR , Known as : 'Glitch' and 'Major Kamper') and used free wondershare to edit the clip real quick with some effects. I call them 'coffee edits'. Once you get the hang of it , it is no thing to slap together.

The music is nice. Im not sure of the 'imagery'.

What can I say? Look at my music post, profanity etc.

When I consider what I share that is 'edgy/offensive to some' as a 'performance art' and I tag such as *viewer discretion*, I 'allow it'.

This song reminded me of:
