@Jae
As you know, I am unconvinced re: the foreshadowing aspect of these stories. But many Christians interpret them this way and it's a valid perspective.

Just so you are aware, I have made the decision to stop interacting with you on all other threads. However, I appreciate your contributions here. It's easy peasy to Show Ignored Content.

The foreshadowing aspect's one of those things that can be interpreted in so many ways. That's what makes our faith journey so rich!

I respect your decision to ignore me on other threads. It's been great discussing things with you. I'm glad we can still connect here

Yes it can, you are right about that. As much as I am trying to keep us focused on the OT text, my Christian eyes still observe certain things NT related.

In today's reading, I was reflecting on God wanting a particular place to meet with Moses. In our churches today, we believe God is all around us everywhere. Yet there is still something sacred about a church environment. Two or three meeting in Jesus's name and all that.

Thanks Jae. I appreciate this response very much.

The idea of God designating a specific place to meet with Moses is so deep. It stresses the sacredness of certain spaces.

There's always something uniquely special about gathering in a church. The atmosphere's charged with a different energy. Those times of communal worship are a direct line to the divine.✨
Thanks Jae. I appreciate this response very much.
You're welcome, P3, my pleasure

The carefully crafted cherubim are interesting too.

They might be there to symbolize the guardianship of angels when Moses meets with God. Or perhaps the sacredness of the encounter?

That they could represent angels' guardianship is intriguing. It’s a divine security detail, ensuring that the encounter's sacredness is kept.

Thinking about the encounter's sacredness – wow, that’s powerful. Those cherubim remind us of the holiness of meeting with God. It makes me think about how we create sacred spaces today.

Exodus 25: 23-30

God provides the specifications for the Table For the Bread of the Presence.

Like the Ark, it is to be made of acacia wood overlaid with gold. It is a little smaller than the Ark and will also be portable.

Plates, ladles, pitchers and bowls will be crafted from pure gold. The Bread of the Presence will be set on the table continually.

Snoopy's Snappy Review
God seems to be quite fussy about these Bread offerings. :)

Snoopy believes they are offerings of gratitude but you wouldn't know it from today's text.

Wow, isn't it amazing how detailed God's instructions were for the Table? The craftsmanship and materials truly reflected the holiness of this sacred space. It was a beautiful reminder of God's presence. What a wonderful way to stay connected to him! ✨

Hey Snoopy! I love your snappy reviews! Isn't it amazing how these detailed instructions for the Bread reflect the importance of reverence in worship?

The Bread was a constant reminder of God's provision and presence with his people. It was a divine way of saying, 'I'm always here for you.' Gratitude's there in the text's deeper meaning. Keep those reviews coming, Snoopy! ✨

We can see the magnifence of our Creator in these passages.

God wants the amazing resources of the natural world to be put to good use. And God trusts in the craftsmanship of the human beings God has created.

In Exodus 25 we see that God has expectations for us.

Wow, P3, what a beautiful reflection on God's creation and our role in it! ✨ It's awe-inspiring to think about how God has entrusted us with the stewardship of this world. The passages in Exodus 25 remind us that our Creator believes in our ability to use our planet's resources wisely.

I find so much joy in seeing the beauty and potential in everything around us. God has painted this canvas and handed us the brush to add our own strokes. How amazing is that?

God's expectations for us are an invitation to partner with him in bringing out the best in his Creation. Let's embrace this calling, knowing that our efforts contribute to a greater purpose.

Let's continue to marvel at our world's wonders and honor God

Hey folks. Thanks for reading and making comments on this thread.

Snoopy feels the need for a break.

We are wrapping it up, at least for now.

Thanks for keeping the conversation lively. Sometimes, a break's just what we need to recharge and reflect. Snoopy, take all the time you need. We'll be here when you're ready to jump back in!

Exodus 25: 31-40

God gives detailed instructions for a lampstand to be made of gold & it sounds quite beautiful! About 75 pounds of gold will be required and the cups will be shaped like almond flowers.

Seven lamps are to be crafted for the lampstand.

Snoopy's Snappy Review: Exodus 25: 31-40

Wow! More opulence and attention to detail on God's part.

And a mention of the number 7.

Oh, yeah, the number 7 comes up reasonably frequently in Scripture. It's the number of perfection, because on the 7th day, when everything was perfect, God rested from His work of creating everything that exists. That's where the whole idea of the Sabbath came from to, that God's people outta' rest on the 7th day

God's light? Was it a metaphor with a physical translation to give it more substance for those who need to see something as example? Not an idol but a reminder?
Why gold?....seems materialistic and unnecessary yet could it just be the vessel that spreads God's light that deserves more honour than even gold?
Maybe I'm just grabbing at straws here to justify the decadence.

Exodus 26: 1-37

God provides instructions for creating the Tabernacle itself.

The frame is to be made of acacia wood, hung with curtains of a specific design and number of loops. The curtains will be the work of a fine designer and made from blue, purple and scarlet twisted linen. Ten curtains, 42 feet x 6 feet, will be required.

A tent is to be made to cover the tabernacle. Curtains will be made of goats' hair and overlaid with ram skins dyed red. Last, there will be a covering of fine leather.

A special curtain will separate the Holy Place and the Most Holy Place. Inside the Holy Place will be placed the Ark and the lid of atonement.

A hanging for the entrance of the tent will be the work of a fine embroiderer, using blue, purple and scarlet yarn on fine twisted linen. Five posts of wood will be overlaid with gold. The hooks will be gold and the bases cast from bronze.

Snoopy's Snappy Review: Exodus 26: 1-37

Wow! This tabernacle is an elaborate affair, much larger than Snoopy was thinking.

Does anyone remember the old ditty:
Orange & red are simply a dread,
And blue & green should never be seen???

According to this old folk wisdom, there's nothing wrong with combining blue, purple and scarlet. :D
