Find this diversity to be a beautiful reflection of the many ways people seek to experience God's love. Each denomination brings its unique threads to the larger tapestry of Christianity.

Just think about it: this rich variety allows Christians to learn from one another. It's like, I believe, the body of Christ; each part is essential. These differences are chances for deeper connection
Jay there are some pretty serious differences in different denominations.....Do you think God approves of such vast differences regarding abortion, LGBTQ, baptism, the Trinity and on and on......?

As it happens, I think God approves of my denomination's stance on all of these matters :D
Me too, But it's losing its members as they die off.... Message from God that the United Church is doing it right or become irrelevant? Or gasp, God's punishment?
Personally I don't find it offensive but I've heard the complaints from other churches as I'm sure you have.

We see in the first part of this Chapter --Paul is discussing the 3 Man ---
He discussed the Natural man and Spiritual man in the last Chapter and the Carnal Man is being discussed here ----

So the Carnal Man is a person who has the indwelling of the Holy spirit and are heaven bound but their minds have not been change to God's way of thinking -----so they live still thinking like this world ---they still live in the flesh -----

Verse 1 AMPC B
However, brethren, I could not talk to you as to spiritual [men], but as to nonspiritual [men of the flesh, in whom the carnal nature predominates], as to mere infants [in the new life] in Christ

They are a Babe In Christ ------ and Pauls says he only fed them the milk of the Scriptures as they are not ready to have more knowledge than they can understand ----
This is so important to understand ---as the Believer who has Matured some ---needs to have the patience and gentleness and Agape needed to help this Carnal Christian move forward to mature in their Faith walk ------This New Christian is vulnerable to backsliding or worse renouncing their Faith altogether ---as Satan has full access to their thinking -----

verse 3
For you are still [unspiritual, having the nature] of the flesh [under the control of ordinary impulses]. For as long as [there are] envying and jealousy and wrangling and factions among you, are you not unspiritual and of the flesh, behaving yourselves after a human standard and like mere (unchanged) men?

So we see here Paul is saying ---that as long as these desires and behaviours of the flesh are still present your actions are like what unbelievers who are in the world harbouring human worldly standards ---like saying I belong to Paul --I belong to Apollos ---which says your unchanged people ----

Paul is saying all we do is Plant and Water but it is God who makes the growth and increase
and he says anyone who builds upon this foundation will see increase

In verse 13 Paul lays out that the work and motives of each believer will be revealed on Judgment day ---

Paul asks --- can't you understand and discern that the Church is God's Temple and the Holy Spirit indwells permanently in you ---as a Church and individually ----

This is important here because believers actions and thoughts can actually grieve the Holy Spirit who dwells in believers ---and True Christians should never want to Grieve the Holy Spirit -- actions and thoughts should always want to please the Holy Spirit ----

Verse 17 and 18 is a stern warning to Believers ----hard to hear ---they speak for themselves

If anyone does hurt to God’s temple or corrupts it]with false doctrines] or destroys it, God will do hurt to him and bring him to the corruption of death and destroy him.

For the temple of God is holy (sacred to Him) and that [temple] you the believing church and its individual believers are.

18 Let no person deceive himself. If anyone among you supposes that he is wise in this age, let him become a fool [let him discard his worldly discernment and recognize himself as dull, stupid, and foolish, without true learning and scholarship], that he may become [really] wise.

So Pauls says the World's Wisdom is Foolish with God ----God knows the thoughts and reasonings of the humanly wise and how futile they are ------so let no one boast about what leader they have----- as you belong to Christ and Christ is God's ----

Paul --Preaching like it is ------and no holding back as to the results of preaching Bad doctrine and bad actions ==Paul does Not Preach to Please People ---He Preaches God's Truth as it is -----

To Many Preachers today are Afraid to Preach the Real Truth =====They Prefer to cater to what the People want to hear -----bad for the Soul and where your destined to be -----

Paul is such a great Example for Believers to follow in their Preaching ---- in my view

The journey from natural to spiritual man is one marked by the power of the Holy Spirit.

Paul's analogy of feeding with milk resonates deeply.

Verse 1 reminds us of the tender care needed for the "babes in Christ."

The metaphor of planting and watering is a reminder that all glory and growth belong to God.

Paul's warning in verses 17 and 18 is spoken out of love. We must guard against false doctrines that can harm the church.

The call to embrace God's wisdom challenges our pride

All these denominations are all made made ---Man has decided --Not God ---to divide the One True Gospel and come up with their own rules ---regulations and traditions ----so stupid in my view ---

Religions split primarily due to disagreements over theological interpretations, leadership authority, cultural influences, and political power dynamics, with different groups developing distinct beliefs and practices over time, often leading to divisions within a single faith or the creation of entirely new religions; this is often seen in historical events like the Protestant Reformation where disagreements over doctrine led to the separation from the Catholic Church.

Key points about religious splits:
  • Doctrinal differences:
Different understandings of core religious concepts like the nature of God, salvation, afterlife, and the role of religious leaders can cause significant splits.

  • Power struggles:
Conflicts between religious leaders or factions vying for control can lead to divisions within a religion.

  • Cultural influences:
As societies evolve, religious practices can adapt to local cultures, creating variations between different regions.

  • Political factors:
Sometimes, political events or conflicts can exacerbate existing religious tensions, leading to further divisions.

Why aren't we "unified in Christ" today?

I say ------Believers are unified under Christ ----being Unified or Not being Unified under Christ is a Personal Choice we make all by ourselves -----

We have Free Will to Choose ---this World's way or Christ's way ----

God wants us to be Unified under Christ ---Some Choose to be Unified under Christ

But Many Choose not to be Unified under Christ by rejecting Jesus ---who is the only one who can Unified people under Christ ----that is their Choice ----
Even amidst the diversity of denominations unsafe, the core message of Christ's love remains unchanged.

Our denominational differences are just different expressions of a shared faith. Each denomination brings its own unique strengths to the table.

These splits are chances for us to grow. Each disagreement challenges us to seek God's wisdom.

True unity in Christ is a journey of surrendering ourselves to embrace the fullness of God's love. We all have free will. With it comes the responsibility to choose Christ's way

Paul seema to suggest that all efforts to build on his foundation (master builder that he is) will be judged by God when the day comes. Each person must be careful about what he builds for it will be tested by fire.

there are some pretty serious differences in different denominations.....Do you think God approves of such vast differences regarding abortion, LGBTQ, baptism, the Trinity and on and on..
My Opinion ---is a Big fat -------NO!!!!!! ----

Right, because members of different denominations are always friendly and looking to make "deeper connections".
It's unfortunate chansen that you haven't experienced the warmth and connection that many of us offer in our faith communities. As humans, we fall short of the ideals we aim to uphold. Your perspective is valuable, as it helps us reflect and grow.

In our journey of faith, we are called to foster deeper connections with others. It's through acknowledging our shortcomings that we work towards making our denominations more loving

Believe that God's love extends to all of us, even in our differences. Each denomination's interpretation of Scripture brings valuable perspectives to our collective faith journey.

On sensitive topics such as abortion, LGBTQ+ inclusion, and baptism, it's vital to remember that God calls us to love one another and seek justice and compassion in all we do. Through open dialogue, we'll grow closer to the heart of God's will.

Personally, I see the doctrine of the Trinity to be a much bigger deal. Imho, any group that doesn't accept it should still absolutely be loved but cannot rightly be identified as being Christian

What would be an example if this in your church Jae?
We set aside our own prideful inclinations and humble ourselves to follow God's lead. A practical example of this is in how we approach decision-making.

To truly embrace God's wisdom, we set aside our pride, come together in prayer, and seek God's guidance. This means letting go of our own agendas and being open to ideas that better serve God's purpose. As a result, we learn from one another and grow together in our faith

Does Paul agree with you?
Does Jesus?

Does Paul agree with you?
Does Jesus?
There's not a doubt in my mind that Paul and Jesus would agree with my sentence about God's love extending to one and all. I believe that the Bible makes clear that God is omnibenevolent (all-loving).

As to my other sentence, I feel reasonably safe in answering in the affirmative.

Paul brought the Good News to diverse communities, each with their unique cultural contexts. In his letters to the Corinthians, he emphasizes that while there are different ways of serving God, it's the same Spirit who gives the gifts. This suggests that he valued the diversity within the Church.

As for Jesus, His teachings often transcended boundaries. He interacted with a variety of people who were considered outsiders by the Jewish community. His message of love was for all people. In John 17:21, he prayed for all believers to be one, just as He and the Father are one. This unity in diversity is a reflection of the inclusive nature of his ministry

So....the head minister/pastor makes the decisions?
At... .my current church? No, no. We work more collaboratively than that. We have our Senior Pastor, plus about 14 other pastors, plus Elders, Department Heads, Senior Teachers, etc

1 Corinthians 4
Paul describes himself and Apollos as servants of Christ and stewards of the mysteries of God. They await the coming judgement of the Lord.

They are not treated well by the world and are as scum and dirt. Yet they respond to verbal abuse with a blessing and they endure persecution. Paul encourages the Corinthians to be imitators of him.

Paul promises to visit soon. He will come not with the rod of discipline but with love and a spirit of gentleness.

In the face of persecution, Paul and Apollos exemplified the strength to endure with unwavering faith. This, I believe, is the essence of God's call: Christians must mirror Christ's love at all times.

Paul's promise to visit the Corinthians with love is a beautiful reminder of the compassionate heart of the Christian faith
