Maybe its not to be taken literally.

Perhaps what is meant is to kill the idea of "son" and "enemy" from the mind, dissolving the special, human love and the desire to do another harm, respectively.

But it is so easily taken literally. Many do. It's a constant battle to neuter the worst of the bible. But the words are always in there, waiting to be taken literally again. It's a time bomb that resets every time it explodes.

Love is the foundation of Reality, and a Healed Mind would perceive nothing but Love in this world.
I have not claimed to have a perfectly healed mind, but I have come far enough along to recognize the difference between Loving thoughts with God, and destructive, separatist thoughts with the Ego.

I would prefer to alter the course of this discourse, and return to a space, together, where the goal is to see the same thing.

unfortunately no one loves unconditionally 24/7 , 7 days a week right to death, it doesn't exist , we may as a race have bouts of acts of love but non is perfected in Love. That means the mind is corrupted some how

the point is , you recognize the mind as long as we are human is affected, so self can not trust self that what it believes is actually true

This reminds me of the legend of Hercules killing his twin brother at a young age. One brother was born of an earthly father while the other was born of Zeus. In killing this twin Hercules was no longer a divided entity, no longer a duality. Soul and body were united and in atonement. Hercules knew himself to be soul in body and not soul and body. It was this realization that coloured his actions during his twelve labours.

Where to start? Surprise... a young woman is selected and the Shekinah Glory falls on and abides with her. From this unlikely beginning rises the tale of a son resistant to the powers of Religion and Politics and wholly supportive of the marginal and the dis-enfranchised.

Taking this as merely a story, an extended metaphor if you will, what does it speak of in our imagination and understanding?

What may we learn by attending to such stories?

Might they not offer a point of departure from which we could refuse and resist the exploitive exercise of power in the earth?

Interesting video Inanna. Whether a mystical experience comes from a chemical hallucinogen or a natural mystical and enlightening experience of Shekinah, it all comes down to "awareness".

"For God knows that when you eat from it (the tree of the knowledge of good and evil) your eyes will be opened, and you will be like God, knowing good and evil."

I believe the "coming of mind", as poorly described in the Book of Genesis, is what separated us from the animal kingdom. The "tree of good and evil" is a poetic way of describing the discriminating mind, where choices between right and wrong can be made. This leads to awareness, where our eyes become open. And thus the journey begins.

With the self-awareness of mind our ability to become aware of our place in the Cosmos increases dramatically. In this way, "awareness" truly is one of the powerful forces in the Universe.

Nothing occurs in the Universe without the force of mind as a conduit or a liaison between the spiritual world and the physical world. Even the word "enlightenment", which is often used to describe Shekinah, implies a spiritual understanding, which must be via the mind.

Mind is another word for Soul. The constitution of Man, I believe, is a trichotomic one where body (soma), soul (psyche), and spirit (pneuma) make up who and what we are. Our job as humans is to become aware of this.

(i think mystical experiences can help one experience a Shekhinah Glory -- heck, said Glory is a mystical experience -- recall also Godel's Incompleteness theorem, which essentially states that there are true statements that cannot be proven to be true -- now THAT'S mystikal)

now if the last bit don't remind me of various ancient practices of waving crystals, wands over people to help heal them...THOUGHTCRIME...i'm sorry, magnetic fields and electrons...

(add to this dr michael persinger's tectonic strain theory, that earthlights and even perhaps phenomena like UFOs & Marian Apparitions are caused naturally by em fields produced, say, during earthquakes...ah, but that's another THOUGHTCRIME...so sorry...)

again, perhaps this is a way the UCC can survive by offering repeatable mystikal experiences? UCC can become intentional shamans & soul doctors?
