unsafe says ---
this is what I would say and posted scripture

Faith
in what Jesus did on the cross for us gives us access to the Holy Spirit who gives us understanding -----Faith by itself cannot give us understanding --------through faith we have access to Grace ----Grace comes through Faith according to scripture ----Faith can manifest our hopes ----Faith can move a mountain ---Faith is a substance according to scripture so Faith can produce but it can't bring Spiritual understanding only the HS can do that ----

Romans 5 (NKJV)
Faith Triumphs in Trouble

5 Therefore, having been justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ, 2 through whom also we have access by faith into this grace in which we stand, and rejoice in hope of the glory of God. 3 And not only that, but we also glory in tribulations, knowing that tribulation produces perseverance; 4 and perseverance, character; and character, hope. 5 Now hope does not disappoint, because the love of God has been poured out in our hearts by the Holy Spirit who was given to us.

--GordW--Hear is a verse or two . God has layed on my mind. Romans 8: 14 Galatians 3:26--29.
Please Let me know your thoughts Brother". airclean33--Gord.
How do you see those verses related to what I posted? NOt sure why they came to mind related to either a definition/understanding of what theology is or a comment about the historical swings between pietism and scholasticism within Christian theology. BEcause I said nothing about who was or was not a child of God.

Actually "the study of God" would be a dictionary definition of theology (ie, how we use the word today) but the actual Greek words when combined don't mean "the study of God" but something more like "God words." (Theos = God; Logos = word) "Study" would be derived, but colloquially I'd argue that "theology" just means "talking about God."
And then there is "theosophy", which "comes from the Greek theosophia (θεοσοφία), which combines theos (θεός), "God" and sophia(σοφία), "wisdom", meaning "divine wisdom" - Theosophy - Wikipedia

Which comes from the evolving signs ... that some say are icons to be destroyed as they are determined to be the only one's correct and in control ... when control is indeterminate as the whole thong swings around ... in avarice there in no avatar ... it was distinctly and determinately rejected and indeterminate ... and thus in time we learn more about continuum of what we don't know ... tis dark and occult ... something to carry some levity into ... for bubbling the unknown humus ... in China this became pyro technics ... in the Niche of time ... folded away across the horizon event ... which we must go round with in anti Baptista'd ance/antes ... that was before the beginning ...

Thus some of us have eternal curios expressed as interest on the loan of gift ... thought being toxic to emotions and spirit ... only the sole left as bottom line ... and thus Jonas has some of the baggage tossed overboard to add to the emotional Big C ... and the dissonance continues too ... so God went into leaving ... left for a rest ... creation continues furiously without a clue as God took Sophia with hymn ... a complex myth to say least about lessor beans ...

Rom 8:10 But if Christ is in you, although your bodies are dead because of sin, your spirits are alive because of righteousness.

Rom 8:12 So then, brethren, we are debtors, not to the flesh, to live according to the flesh--

Only it said;s who you are an where you should be looking.

It looks like you continue t believe that you have an answer that everyone else has to agree with. I suspect that you would skew more to the pietist/personal experience side of the spectrum I mentioned earlier. Which is great for you. But does not mean it works for everybody. Personally I probably spend much of my time just across center on to the Scholastic side of the spectrum.

ANd part of normal discussion, when one is unsure of why the other has said something is to ask for more explanation -- in this case what relevance you saw in those verses to the conversation at hand. While you did eventually get there, I am not sure why you continue to be surprised at such questions.

Gal 3:26 for in Christ Jesus you are all sons of God, through faith.

copyChkboxOff.gif
Gal 3:27 For as many of you as were baptized into Christ have put on Christ.

copyChkboxOff.gif
Gal 3:28 There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither slave nor free, there is neither male nor female; for you are all one in Christ Jesus.

copyChkboxOff.gif
Gal 3:29 And if you are Christ's, then you are Abraham's offspring, heirs according to promise.
These chapters to me very much speaks to your post on pietism and scholasticism within Christian theology. How dose it seem to point to? Perhaps I should say "which one dose GODS Word say you be Looking To Rev?

Airclean let me make it plain. What do those verses (because that is all you have referenced really, if you mean the full chapters why only post some verses?) say to YOU about Pietism vs. Scholasticism? IF you consider the ability to think logically and to explore intelectually to be one of the gifts God gives than I see no conflict between these verses and a scholastic approach to scripture. I also sai earlier that I believe a healthy spirituality does not live at either pole of the spectrum but makes use of both.

By the way, Paul is a prime example of someone who uses both personal experience AND intellectual resources to explore and explain what it means to be a follower of Christ.

One must go by a book ... although in the concept of eternal god as word ... does the book require expansion upon limited concepts presented there in mythical form?

--Gord I am not surprised. Why others don't answer Gord ' I am a bit surprised 'as I thought I would form this as a Question from me. Giving you a chance" to give what ever you arrived from the Chapters, If I Stated the Question was from GOD" you may have laugh about it . I have no wish to put a Brother in a misstep with his Father. -airclean33

Airclean--post--Gord--I not say you can't read any other around it. That is not how God works . Those
who Lie use this ploy. By taking a Word out of context they tell you what there father" want's to teach you . Again my Father dose not do this. As you go your right on . There is no problem. If you do as GOD has said. Check into all things you are told" and put it into what GOD "The Father has said. I understand what you have said. I think Gord there is but one what to learn of GOD. As our Lord Jesus Christ has said . He would Pray The Father " would sent another To Teach us things .As we have but one Spirit Bother , I ask you . Why do you think He is teaching two different way's.

By the way, Paul is a prime example of someone who uses both personal experience AND intellectual resources to explore and explain what it means to be a follower of Christ.
I am not sure of your meaning here? If you mean Paul had two different Teachings. Yes then I agree. One by the evil one and his scribes- Pharisees. The other by Christ and His Chosen by The Holy Spirit. airclean33--

I did not say Paul had two different teachings. I said Paul taught the Christian faith both from his personal experience of the Risen Christ AND using his intellectual resources. Both led to instruction about what it meant to follow Christ. BOth experience an intellect/study are ways to God.

It WAS a question from you, though you feel it was prompted within you by God. It was @airclean33 who chose to ask it and to post it.

-- I am afraid I once again I am not in agreement with you. If you understood how God works . You would know what it means. When GOD tells you" to tell it to them". He is Judging me and you. I will do as GOD Said's . What you do Gord" is up to you. GOD bless. Airclean--33--You really believe GOD don't know who I am??

IT is throughout his letters and in the account of his ministry Luke gives in the book of Acts. Much of his writing shows his use of intellectual resources and in various places he talks about his experience. If you can't see that I am not sure how well you have read him.

Airclean, you can't even provide a valid description of "what" God is, yet you insist that that little voice in your head is from God?
