The daughter lost her phone with her bank card this morning. Emailed in a panic from school. Did a quick search. Called the bus company and her driver reported a found cell phone. Whew.

My grown up daughter left her phone on an Uber a while ago. Fortunately the driver was able to recover and return it But there was lots of that panic your daughter experienced at first.

With Interac tap systems, she was looking at losing a few hundred or maybe a thousand dollars that she earned from coaching. That's substantial to her. She's been good at saving money. She has splurged on Fan Expo tickets and the very occasional Starbucks, but has otherwise been bringing her lunch from home and keeping her money in that account.

Lesson learned, and at no cost. Keep that pocket zipped.

Preparing for a book club meeting at our house…which means cleaning and baking. One person just let me know she isn’t coming because she didn’t like the book. Two people quit last year because they didn’t like some of the books. I didn’t realize that the purpose of a book club was to read only what you like.!

Yesterday I made an old Irish bread known as Barm Brack. It is slightly sweet and contains a generous amount of raisins and peel. Barm is, so I heard, Irish for yeast. I'll put some out on the calorie free table for you to try.

Is it like Irish soda bread with raisins and peel added in?

I've never made Irish Soda Bread. Actually, I don't recall ever eating it either. Anybody know if it is good?
Its very good. We started making it at our house so our kids could take it to those ethnic food celebrations at school and guides/ brownies. They needed something of Irish or British origin. Roast beef with Yorkshire pudding seemed a bit over the top. Ditto for trifle with sherry.

LoL I had never tasted Irish soda before in my life. But it's good and it's easy to make.

We were soda nit!

Assisted the salt free diet as one does need some of this stuff ... oceanic salts are best ... old ones!

You know if you are forbidden about these qualities ... you can speak of them metaphorically ... as tyrants do not like virtue and would prefer to spread propaganda ... said to be false info! Needs questions ... to discover who propped the gu ooze ...

Since you love Lebkuchen, I understand that you call it “Liebkuchen” ( Lovecake)- or maybe because you love the owner of the recipe?

LOL, can't spell in German, either, although I love your explanation, which I do (I am so lucky to have found a great love late in life). I'm baking, using my phone, with the recipe a photo that one of the big guy's sisters shot of her mother's notebook. Two pages, because it explained where the recipe had come from. Handwritten. I was okay until I got to 1 package of Lebkuchen spice. Looked it up, sort of got it together with a recipe for it (11 spices, some of them needing to be roasted and/or ground in a mortar and pestle; ground mace is hard to find, and my ground coriander was suspiciously old), but the resulting cookies were deemed "pretty close".

I love baking for him, but he so doesn't need it...He went from large to fat with a woman who loved ice cream. Wish I'd made him fat with German pastries. I am thin, and I like nice food, but I fill up quickly and have quirky allergies, so like really nice food in great moderation. It's hard to meet both of our needs.

Yet I appreciate the German linguistics and what they add to the mass and pas Zion ... also if obscures the understanding for those that don't want to know much; no names mentioned. They just assume and assimilate without consideration ... thus great unappreciated domains ...

Good morning! Lost phones and bank cards, fortunately found and recovered, baking Irish breads and other things, book club meetings and dissension over choice of book, and all the other things that will rise up today; we bring them to the Coffee Cart for discussion, support, amusement, edification, etc. We also join in the drinking of coffee, tea, and any other morning drink we can think of. The coffee is fresh brewed, tea water ready, cushions fluffed. Come in when you can and join the fun! All is ready, all are welcome.

Pum my word ... all of that!

Is word PU given it is raised in the biblical forms ... means? Maybe a medium or category of carrion ... thus Snoopy Buzzards ... wanting to know only the opposed ... they cannot see themselves in bad conditions ... thus turns ...

No wonder I am ignored! What does one call the folk ignoring? Deficits ... de Funct and wag gon ...

When I was involved with a book club I did my best to read all the selections and keep an open mind. However I just can't handle books that feel too bleak to me. I am the same with movies.

I really felt this way about Slum Dog Millionaire a few years ago. We did one book that impacted me like this but I don't remember the title. Others loved the book and I know many people loved that particular movie.

If one is seized by good news and cannot take bad news ... what happens in such incidents that occur randomly? Imagine Bear cases and Black Swan situations ... out landers?

I'll just say it is beyond me ... whether virtue or not it is what the masses expected ... denial ...

In sacred form I observe it in total; au's Tout! hart wood ...

Re book club: I have no problem with people not enjoying a book, or not liking parts of a book. But it feels dismissive of the whole group if that becomes the reason for not meeting. Hosts and leaders prepare for the meeting. Someone suggested the book for a reason, and it might be interesting to hear the reason, even debate the reason. This person hasn't liked the last two books, but never brings her own suggestions. I interpret this as negativity I don't need/want in my life. BTW we had a great discussion about the book, and the author (The Life Impossible by Matt Haig), but it wasn't well-liked by anyone. The fantasy aspect is what triggered the dislike. But there were some great quotes and moments that we all enjoyed. So...lots to discuss.

A medical professor once told me that students in her sector often couldn't, or wouldn't read because of lack of will.

Could it be because of one missing part or the other as a small pixel? Some just don't get the broader interest in intelligence being a bummer to those of great will ... thinking is a drag! Thus truth dashes off ... as a dare about the consequences of being out there ... less retrieved than one would believe ...

@Nancy - I also read The Life Impossible a couple of months ago. I would think there could be lots of wide ranging discussion on it. I suppose the 'supernatural' aspects of it could put some people off. I'm glad you had a good book club gathering despite a smaller group - sometimes that makes for richer discussion. But it's also great IMO to have a variety of perspectives!
