Oh man. What a day. I had an appointment for bloodwork at 1:00. I got there and realized I had forgotten my requisition. I tried calling my doctor with no luck. Sooooo, with the lab's blessing, I ran home and got it. All was good. I had a hair appointment at 2:30. I had wondered how I was going to fill the time. Well, the half hour spent running back to get the req and the phoning the doctor ate up the time. Now bloodwork is done, hair is cut and I'm in the bakery next to the hairdresser after enjoying a bowl of tomato basil soup. Just what I needed.

I have done that before. Gone to the lab and forgotten to take my req. I have also shown up with an out of date one.

It was nice here this morning and I got out for a walk. We had some rain in the afternoon but it has cleared again.

I am sad that Chansen has left us. Also sad contemplating the future of this place.

Well, my every five year colonoscopy is done, thank goddes. Looks like everything fine, so my inexplicable weight loss may remain that - inexplicable, and many people would be grateful for it. So, I'm starved and I order fried chicken and poutine for my supper. Meh, I don't even know why I do such things to myself.

Angry at diabetes. Screws up a lot of good people's lives. Pancreases seem rather badly designed, fragile things. Bit like external genitalia on men. Like, design flaws; I'm sure some industrial design people might have some better ideas.

Medical stuff sucks. I got told by my doc that my brain scan was normal - no tumours, aneurisms or anything needing further exploration. Hmmmm - so I wondered why my head feels like it is going to explode when I laugh, cough, sneeze or bend over. Doc sounded quite dismissive claiming that everyone gets a headache occasionally. I tried to keep cool and observed that I didn't know anyone else who was getting a quick, killer type headache several times a day for months. Maybe he could suggest a pain killer that would work? He didn't think it would hurt to take a Tylenol but it probably wouldn't prevent it. End of conversation.

About ten minutes later he phoned back and said he wanted to see me in person as he wonders if he is missing a possible diagnosis. So tomorrow I go to the office. Who knows what may come of that! Darn it - something has to be causing this aggravation.

Good on you, Kay, for not being patronized. I am a veteran of both tension headaches and visual migraines, and the advice I've had from docs over the years is, "worry if it changes". And yours has. I hope some answer can be found. Heads are hard.

I'm sure I'll feel tempted to say something 'bad'. I know headaches are hard to diagnose but quite frankly, I need a bit of effort from him. Heck, I could tell him several possible causes from general knowledge and Google but that isn't my role!! Apparently it doesn't help that I am tired of the nonsense and fresh out of patience.

I used to have a landline phone until my mother died, who was the only reason to keep the cheap phone plan that charged 5 cent a minute for international calls. After her death I got myself an iphone. But I forgot, that I still was calling an old coworker of mine in Germany two or three times a year. She doesn’t have internet ( she is in her 80 ties). So I called her twice from a friends landline. The last call was a surprise, apparently, the company changed the conditions on April 1 st- and the bill for my 70 minute call was $117 ! They told the phone owner, that nobody has a landline anymore, so they must have upped the charges.
Of course I paid them the money- but now I have the problem again- as my cell plan also charges 50 cents a minute. I skype with my siblings- but this old lady doesn’t have internet. Does anybody here have an idea what I could do?

Yikes @Mrs.Anteater that was an expensive phone call.

Headaches can be mysterious @KayTheCurler I hope the doctor can do something helpful.

Years ago I had some really bad headaches that presented like migraines. My doctor didn't think they were migraines because they didn't occur frequently enough.

I think I have only had two of them since I retired ten years ago. I always believed that tiredness triggered them. Almost always they happened at the end of the week.

Good morning! For tired dogs, forgotten medical forms, for procedures and headaches and diabetes, and eyes and colons, for the state of telecommunications, and for any and all other concerns, topics and themes, the Room is open with comfy furniture; and the Coffee Cart is stocked with fresh coffee and hot water for tea and etc. All is ready, come on by.

Check Skype's international rates. It does have the ability to call cell and landline numbers. Never used it for that, just know it is supposed to be there.

This made me remember that my father used to use Skype to phone me. We learned that when a particular strange number showed up it was probably him.

@KayTheCurler I hope you find answers. It's good the doctor called you back. Hopefully that means you two can work together for a solution.

We're packing the trailer up and heading to Kelowna for a few weeks soon. I need to do some tidying and sorting to prepare for that. So that is part of today's plans.

We were, Nancy, for a very long time. I am saddened by his departure.

I'm also still starving, so here's an entire tray of salmon salad sandwiches on very nice bread. They're tea-sized, so grab a few (on a magical, self-washing plate, just like the cups).

Sounds fun. The old VP from work retired there. His kids are in Calgary and Vancouver so he kind of split the difference. Been meaning to hit that part of BC myself someday.

We bought our fifth wheel there so it's going in for some warranty work. We have friends there too and try to get there every year.
