Good morning all. As I read WonderCafe, I am also listening to some very loud birds outside my window. They seem to be insistent in asking for rain! I have a friend who can identify birds by their sounds....I think that would be a lovely skill to have!

A Hitchcock warned us about the birds ... they can pick at your being ... and something can be made of this function ... then they whirl away ...

Speak of absence ! There it wasn't ...

I can do obvious ones like jays and crows, but otherwise not much of a birdsong guy.

Good morning. My lawn mower was repaired and refurb'd this week and it works like new. Best cut it's had a couple years, I think. And best of all, some of the repairs I thought were needed turned out not to be. The blade, for instance, could be fixed by a good sharpening and did not need replacing.

I'm taking a week off next week and spending part of it in the nation's capital. U of O engineering convocation is Thursday and both Little M and his partner are getting their degrees.:giggle: Last I heard, her family isn't going so I guess we get to be the guests for both.

It's a rainy morning here in the Kootenays. Thankfully the rain mostly held off as we were hooking up the trailer to the truck. Now it is raining harder as we start out on the road. It should be a nice drive. GPS says 5.5 hours. It will more likely be 6.5 or 7 in the end.

Good morning, I am up before Red to put the kettle on. Getting ready to put stuff out for a yard sale. My neighbour has a huge one- he is a professional hoarder but has just moved into his mothers 2 bedroom place together with two kids, spouse, boyfriend of daughter, two large dogs, two bunnies and two cats. And they have five vehicles and two trailers on a road that doesn’t have enough parking. There is always something to observe.

Thank you, Mrs.Anteater. Sounds like quite a crowd for a 2 bedroom house. Anyway, the coffee is brewed, along with the kettle that Mrs.Anteater has plugged in. Come on in and join the fun.

Hoarding is a tough one. It was featured on an episode of Call the Midwife which I just watched last night. The individual concerned had suffered extreme deprivation in the past.

Season 8. Episode 2, I think. Early in the season anyways.

I see the coffee is ready now. Thanks @Mrs.Anteater and @Redbaron

That's a long drive but I imagine your knitting will help put in the time.

Imagine the untimely observations in that busy gathering ...

Sipping Cream of Earl Grey from David's today. I mostly order from local shop Tea Haus anymore but my son gave me a David's gift card for my birthday so I'm back to them for my latest shipment.

Kind of flailing with my writing these days. Even with the long gestating third part of my Tana the Healer stories on StoriesSpace, I'm just not getting as engaged as I sometimes do. At least that one, I have a draft done. A couple other ideas just keep getting stuck in the early going.

Others say there is no such thing as blockage and stays in the houses of constitutional conflicts ... they just claim to win and see how it goes over! Imagine monstrous lines crawling from that pool of unknowns ... leaves room for myths! Rendering continues ...

It was a good drive and I got a lot done on a sock. That drive takes you through mountain passes, rivers, foothills, rolling prairie and other wonderful things. It's a fabulous drive

Well darn. I have a cold/sinus thing! First time sick in a very long time :-( Did a rapid test this morning & it was negative, so that's reassuring (but I know they're not especially reliable with the recent variants). Will take extra precautions. My mate just came home from a few days away & he had to sleep in the spare room LOL. We are going away next weekend, so don't want him to be feeling unwell then. In the meantime - baking bagels & bread & crackers this morning. Sun is shining. Our local farmer's market is having it's first day but I think I'll give that a pass - too bad - I was looking forward to some delicious Ontario asparagus.

Almost 2 pm, and yard sale is slowing down. I made $45 and spent $25 on a rocking chair from another neighbour, which I sanded down and will varnish tomorrow. It will go on my screened in porch/ catio- and I know already who will be sitting in it:cat:
Going for an early supper later on with friend who has to get out of her house renovation for a couple of hours.

Holy hell. What were we thinking??? Hubby needed gas so we found a UFA (bulk fuels) in Calgary. We decided to go to Costco for propane. We found it at the third Costco we visited. Said Costco is HUGE. I went in to get two items. It took me awhile to find the damned yogurt. The liquor store there didn't have their margaritas. :( So now we're on our way home.

Today is my 65th birthday. I'm glad to be marking it. I wasn't sure I'd see it when I was first diagnosed. Now here's to 70.

Happy birthday, Northwind!

Just back from a long morning with an early start. Up at 7, by 8 was loading up other people's vehicles with plants (I had packed mine up the night before), got to church just after 8, and spent the next hour and a bit sorting and organizing and pricing things that were missed. And of course, I didn't come back empty-handed. I've got a new native addition to my pollinator garden, two new roses (I had only budgeted for one, but there was a 2/1 special on Marilyn Munroe's, so that was that), a bishops cap, a hyssop, a few more annuals, some morning glories. (Also, my share of pots and trays, etc.) We sold a full 2/3 of what we brought in, and have made over $700. And the garage sale and book sales had separate cashes, so it was a good day for the church, but a boat-load of work. My back has moved a lot of pots in the last week or two.
