Wow ChemGal! My sister is dealing with the health care system on multiple levels right now...for herself, and her daughter with the eating disorder. Some of the stories she has told me make me cringe. Some are as basic as individuals not being polite to her on the phone. Others are far more serious and show a level of not really caring or even neglecting responsibilities. What is going on? I feel for you and don't doubt that you feel like an experiment.

Oh, 11 degrees, sunshine, birds chirping and forsythia starting to bloom.....I am going to miss that back in the freezing NS. Junior just returned yesterday- missed plane in Toronto, got shipped to NFL to wait five hours for his flight to HFX. Said there was A LOT of snow in NFL.
I got a couple more days here, but will just do some relaxing, meeting old friends, sorting some stuff out for mother's return ( tackling all the medication with my sister tonight).

Met my brother’s son, wife and baby as well as their dog today. He is a police officer and the dog a specially trained dog ( explosives and missing person sniff dog). They work right in downtown Berlin, including several train stations.

Greetings! Happy Monday! Running a bit in slow motion today, but coffee cart os ready.

Kettle is on for tea and hot chocolate now. I restocked the loose leaf and bags.

My A1C is getting into the "Danger, Will Robinson" zone so doc thinks it's time to up my dose of Metformin. Hopefully this holds for a while now. No real change in diet or exercise so I am not sure why, though I did gain a few pounds relative to last summer. Weather is getting nice so maybe I can start my outdoor exercise regime (walking, cycling) in March. For whatever reason, that seems to be more effective with weight than the stationary bike.

We are getting ready for a road trip. I'm waiting for hubby to get beautiful. I watched a Ted Talk about integrative oncology this morning. Interesting. I've been doing some research on diet etc as a way to be healthier through this journey. So much info....

Ok, bringing something more Austrian than German to the table- Germknoedel. Yeast dough dumplings with plum jam filling and melted butter and poppy seeds on top. I had two today for lunch.

Our resort in Jamaica had a private beach and the waves were breaking some ways off shore, with only ripples and light waves on the actual beach. There was a reef out there so I guess it acted as a breakwater to shelter the beach from the full force of the waves.

Looks great - such a tiny swimming area though. Is that because of the waves and a possible undertow?
Actually the swimming area is very large - this just a small section at one end, and I have lens on telephoto - so that often changes the perspective a bit more too. There are reefs and rocky shoals further out that cause the huge wave breaks - they would be very dangerous to get into. Some of the reefs & rocks are within the swimming area - so tomorrow we are hoping to go snorkeling to see what we can see!

Today down the other direction there were lots of kite-boarders having an amazing time in the wind. Counted a dozen out there at one point - very colourful! Since we're on the Atlantic side of the Samana penninsula it is pretty windy a lot of the time.

So mother came home yesterday from 5 weeks in hospital and Rehab. Her live in caregiver will start tomorrow, when I am gone. Home care is taking care of helping with personal care until then. Yesterday, I was trying to get her back into her routine. We have a checklist for checking blood pressure three times a day, taking medication and writing down notes for appetite, vomiting and bowel movements.
When it came to her giving herself her insulin, it turned out she had forgotten how to use her new pen, which she has had for four weeks prior to her admission and she insisted she had never used it before. Hopefully, she will get into the routine, as her live in caregiver cannot take care of the insulin and even reminding her seems to be quite a bit much for untrained care givers. There is the option of having a home care nurse come for it- which might be the way to go.

Good morning, all! The coffee cart is ready. All the pancakes and donuts were consumed yesterday, so may have to provide your own snacks, if desired, but the beverages are ready.
