I bought myself an I-pad this year. Yesterday, I signed up to get books on line at the public library. I am so excited....

Are they using Overdrive or some other service? I am finding my library's selection in Overdrive to a bit half-arsed. For instance, they might have the middle book of a trilogy but not the first and that sort of thing. That said, they are starting to get that way even with the physical collection, not replacing older books from series when they lost or retired so that they don't have a complete set of the series and that sort of thing. Still, it's a nice way to get e-books and I do make use of it.

We really enjoyed meeting Mrs. Anteater on Tuesday evening. Had DELICIOUS crepes at a lovely little restaurant and as she mentioned, we were also treated to her homemade Black Forest Cake!! Yummy for sure - I had overspent my 'gluten budget' for the day or I would definitely have had a second piece. Conversation was wide ranging and flowed easily - as it seems to do when meeting people from WonderCafe  We're now spending 3 nights in what is very much a 'university town' - walkable, lots of good shops, and lots of pubs! Ah the student life! I would have loved to go to uni here.

Today we went off to Grand Pre where we learned about the Acadians - and their deportation by the English in 1755 and through the next 6 years or so - at the start of the Seven Years War. It's not a piece of history I had really known much about - with the exception of Ninjafaery opening discussion about it last week when we met her. So that was interesting. We saw an excellent explanatory film - and on the way out, I heard somebody say "Hello Carol" - and there was a man from my church in Ontario - and his family!! Later we went off to lunch on a patio at a nearby vineyard - perfect weather & delicious food once again! Tomorrow more exploring, maybe a short hike ... and then off to Lunenburg for the weekend - where we may meet some remnants from hurricane Dorian  More adventure! So we got new wipers for the car ... best to be prepared! LOL

Do not be wiped out ... stay off the rocks on Peg's shore!

Many tourists don't see the waves coming ... can be earth shaking ...

Then some miss my complexity while searching the simple life ...

Carpenter started to build my fence today. Hit a too rocky ground so plans had to be changed to use metal spikes and additional braces and surprisingly, the heavy set strong carpenter can puond those in the ground despite the rocks. I have been driving around picking up supplies and did too much lifting for my condition, so I am now curled upon the bed with the cat, who is also under the weather after getting her routine vaccines yesterday.
Half the fence is done- and I am enjoying already the privacy it creates.

Anybody watched Amazing Race Canada yesterday ( or CTV online)? It’s been in my neighbourhood, literally. Had to laugh when they had to sort 12 different kinds of apples. Tangled gardens is a beautiful spot and yesterday, they had an outdoors viewing event of the race there- I bet they all sang “ Farewell to Nova Scotia”.

The Amazing Beverage Cart is up and running! (Sounds like a possible mini-series to me) Help yourself.

If the world is crazy (do yah think?) ... remember the powers say to conform perfectly!

There may be variants ... variable insanity? Depends on the projected perspective ...

The old sage said know thy's elf and where y'ere at ...

Good morning. I hadn't l haven't watched Amazing Race, even though it came through this town. I'll be watching last night's Big Brother episode while I enjoy my coffee. Yeah, my guilty secret is out. :coffee::ROFLMAO:

I've taken a break from socks for a minute. I'll be knitting a dishcloth. Seems I can't watch TV without working on something.

Fence looks great so far Mrs. Anteater! Take it easy for a bit tho. And I guess on Saturday your new fence will get a good test of strength as the wind & rain of Dorian arrives!!

Oh, that’s for sure. Carpenter is just finishing up as I am typing. Now I have to save up for next year to add the last side to the other neighbour. Broke the budget, dipped into savings deeper than I had anticipated. Hope, I will be able to do the rest of it myself eventually.

Good morning! Those of you out East, stay safe, The beverage cart us open. Enjoy.

Vibes to all our Maritimers and Newfoundlanders. Looks like Dorian is going to give you some rough times. My brother, who was in PEI during Gustav in 2002, retweeted an item suggesting Dorian will have similar air pressure to that storm.

Hope everyone stays safe in the path of Dorian. How are you preparing for this hurricane? Are you boarding up windows? cutting down or trimming trees? extra water? filling gas tanks?

“Praying “that my new built fence will hold up. Preparing for power outages, though in my area, I haven’t had any longer than 4-6 hours ever, because I am on the same grid as the business district. I am on town water, so there will be water all the time. Otherwise, people fill their bathtubs. It also helps to have rain barrels. I got cans of stuff, cookies, bread and cheese. I live in civilization, so its not that bad. We have had storms with 120 km/ hr before no boarding up required.
Having a full tank of gas and cash helps when there is no power to take credit cards. Also, last time we had a longer power outage, only certain gas stations were able to function. I was told that the superstore was out of milk two evenings ago. I returned all the lumber that wasn’t used for the fence and could fly off. Moved my neighbours flower pots under their deck.
They have announced/ suggested that people living at the shore evacuate voluntarily, due to the threat of high waves ( 15 meters).
